Our next release to the Homelandz Public Library is a classic rather short novel that is a gripping and touching tale of 2 unlikely traveling companions, looking for work, and a piece of the American Dream. I highly recommend the modern movie remake of the black and white classic as well. The newer one features Gary Sinise as George, and John Malkovich as Lenny.

Of Mice and Men is a 1937 novella written by American author John Steinbeck. It describes the experiences of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers, as they move from place to place in California, searching for jobs during the Great Depression.

Steinbeck based the novella on his own experiences as a teenager working alongside migrant farm workers in the 1910s, before the arrival of the Okies whom he would describe in his novel The Grapes of Wrath. The title is taken from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse": "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley" ("The best-laid plans of mice and men / Often go awry").

Although the book is taught in many schools, Of Mice and Men has been a frequent target of censorship and book bans for vulgarity and for what some consider offensive and racist language. Consequently, it appears on the American Library Association's list of the Most Challenged Books of the 21st Century.

So TDS will be changing the way that you grab items at the store! I have decided to make all items full perms, only because I see my items at other stores with no credit to myself at all. So if I make everything full perm then everyone can pass out the items to their friends. I will also be boxing items based on dates that are in my inventory. I have thousands of items not out because I am just myself at TDS. So the store will still be open whilst I work in the sky to get items boxed for you to grab once it is ready. I was going to put items in boxes based on what the item is, however, I would be trawling through my invy at a snail's pace. So if you have items already then you can just unpack and delete. Women’s Words is in the works to put Irish women writers into the spotlight; a spotlight that has too long been occupied by Irish men. The goal of focail na mban is to explore contemporary women's writing in Ireland through a diverse intersectional lens. The shop will feature different writers in rotation and offer a deep dive into their lives and work.

Please backup your inventory first!!! Just in case you are not happy with the results. It really will do what it says. However, there is a case where a person has merged their inventory multiple times and duplicates have the same creation date. In that case the script would leave those duplicates. Be sure to write down the size of your inventory when you start, and note the size after you run the script.

The Grove Bistro is a freebie little restaurant anyone can come and copy/buy for 0 on Birch Grove Spring. A while back I found both this cute little building (on Klamotto region) as well as a really cool collection of food on Sketchfab from a RL restaurant. I have been meaning to make a restauant combining both elements. Be aware there are some separate parts. The tables are LK from the Moonlight series and they have all the plates in them. I didn't like the square plates the originals came with so it's all on some classic round plates made by Sunny from OpenSimCreations. It was sorta supposed to be for Valentines day but the time got away on me so it's just for anytime and a cool place for your avs to go pretent to eat...lol. Not everything is free to copy/buy for 0 if it came from other creators and the perms were not so. Beside the cemetary and behind the Afree Hair Salon. Enjoy!

This is now starting my 15th year of trying to improve Opensim with the DreamWorld and DreamGrid systems. I haven't done an OSCC talk for several years so I thought I'd give a quick review of some Opensim stats that I track. This data is based on anonymous data from the DNS servers ns1.outworldz.com and ns2.outworldz.com and the publicity checkbox, which generates XML for the https://outworldz.com/search function. I am also able to count some stats from known 'other' grids via a web crawler that runs hourly scans.

There are now 259 free OARs, and that includes 63 exclusive regions for DreamGrid owners. I licensed these from the creators, and collections are copyrightable. The most popular Public OARS are at https://outworldz.com/cgi/freesculpts.plx?q=OAR- and sorted by popularity are IARS at https://outworldz.com/cgi/freesculpts.plx?q=IAR- I have many more to upload still.

I do not have access to any of your assets, backups, OARS, IARS, or any personal data. My servers periodically crawl the web looking for Opensim servers from publicly available sources such as my visitor lists, the data I publish and from Hypergrid Business.

DreamGrid goes back to 2011, when it was called DreamWorld. I didn't always track much back then and periodically flushed the database. Since 2018 (6 years) , there have been 5,180 distinct DreamGrid instances. People created 12,280 different grids with it. and 3,378 were online in 2024. In that same time period of six years, I've located 2,935 standard grids. In 2024 alone, there were 2,762 unique DreamGrids online.

Sl has 18,326 private estates, which are equivalent to the 12,334 regions in Dreamgrid. However, we have much larger regions, the equivalent of 73,341 SL regions. An SL region costs $349 to set up, and $209 a month to rent (not own). The first year, one region costs $2,857, the second year $2508.

When you compare DreamGrid with the SL private estates, we've collectively saved $209,535,237 in the first year, and $183,939,228 per year after that.

If you have been keeping up with the weather in the US, you know that about half of the US is dealing with blizzards, sub freezing temperatures severe enough to challenge infrastructures, and peripheral states are dealing with flooding and electrical infrastructure challenges. Two of our presenters had to bow out due to last minute inclement weather, and my own electricity is VERY sketchy. We have experienced power surges in my city for over 24 hrs, with uncertain relief. Sadly, I live in a state that has puffed out their chest about being off the federal grid, and in the last 10 years, we have paid dearly for that.

We are committed to this. We will reschedule sometime after the Hypergrid World's Fair, where WolfTEC will be have a presence! We hope to see you all there!

Are you using a 4K monitor ? Are you looking to upgrade ?

I publish here some benchmark in the hope it might help those who are looking to up part their performances using Firestorm. I was myself looking to find those information before i upgraded.

This will allow you to see what performance you could get with a similar hardware. I chose Intel, but AMD is also a very good choice, so for comparison it would need to be an AMD with similar performance to get similar result, the same for the video card.

Please note, these benchmark are with Firestorm with everything enabled Ultra Detail and Distance view set to 864. With a 4k Monitor (3840x2160)

Firstly "Happy New Year" everybody!

zetaworld grid automatically logs out any hypergridders from dynamic dns grids from visiting them (SUPER RUDE ZETA!), so in return I've done the same, so if zetaworld residents get logged out when hypergridding to "http://snik.loseyourip.com:8002:home of merci" then that will be the reason why.

I'm more than happy to reverse my decision, assuming zetaworld does the same :)

I'm trying to be a more positive, encouraging, creative and empathic individual, but currently I'm struggling. I'll do my very best to do better in future. :)

Always happy to share grid admin tips along with general opensim support and help, generally, I don't bite, unless you do :)
