If someone does not like the rules, they can choose from the following options:
1. He wags his tail and leaves like a beaten dog.
2. Start a CIVILIZED discussion about changing the rules, introducing paid bots or promotions or whatever you want to suggest. If the idea is good Satyr might like it and change the rules.
3. You continue to act like village tariqats, lie, threaten to present yourself as special and super worthless.... and naturally you will be reported and blocked.

Everything else is mindless hysteria and is curable, but not here!

Sorry for bad englis.

Hello folks.. I have a situation that's been brought to my attention. I loaded a 2 year old OAR of an old region I had, where I had a newbies shop for new musicians coming to open sim.. the idea was to collect free starter stuff and have it in one place, because open sim is quite confusing to people who have never been here before..

So.. when I reopened virtual melody, I loaded the old oar.. and one some of the items.. it changed the name of the creator on some of the items to MY name! I did not create these items.. I do not own these items.. I even have poster boards up explaining that the items in the shop were all collected for free on the hypergrid and that I don't own them.. This has never happened to me before and I'm seriously upset that it's happened now. Has anyone else had any issues with loading old oars like this? I have to go through all of the items now to make sure my name is not set as owner! To the people, who do create these items, I'm truly very sorry that this has happened. I will fix it!

OSFest begins July 8, and runs for 17 days of music, entertainment, shopping and exhibits.

Happy New Year to all Opensim grid owners and users alike. I just want to add my thoughts as a few others have on the past year. We have all seen growth or maybe a decline in our grids and even so far as to have our grids banned by other grid owners. Isn't it bad enough real life has tossed us a pandemic to deal with. Losing Family & Friends we have cherished for years to a sickness we can't get control of. We all come online to escape real life even if just for a few hours, to forget our troubles and just have that bit of time to relax, have fun ... and maybe meet a new friend or two.

I recently had one of my users come to me and say why am I banned from such and such grid? My answer of course is "I have no idea no one has contacted me about any issues." I can tell you this ....if I have an issue with a user visiting my grid I am going to ban the offending user/users not the grid they came from. Banning the whole grid for the unfortunate actions of 1 or 2 users in my opinion is childish and very unfair to all the good users from that grid that have the same lets have fun and meet new people and share what each of us have to offer mind set. After all isn't Opensim supposed to be about offering a place to enjoy the free time you wish to spend online when you access a grid?

I and my partner have and will always try to offer a peaceful and enjoyable experience for users of our grid. If you have had an issue with one of our users please don't ban the grid ban the offending user/users and please feel free to contact me regarding any user from the grid. I am one of those No Tolerance for crap people that will not stand for a user tarnishing our grid by doing something they shouldn't. They want to do that crap it's time for them to move on find someplace else where it's acceptable or get their own grid. We have already banned and deleted one user for unacceptable activity and I am not afraid to do it again if needed.

I like to think and I'm sure I have shown to many visitors I am a very reasonable person to deal with. And I try to act on issues ASAP so the grid is enjoyable for users and visitors alike. See something you don't agree with message me and lets talk. Have a user issue message me and let me know so we can get any issues resolved quickly so we can get back to enjoying our grids and members.


Lets make 2022 a year of change for each of us in Opensim. Lets enjoy our online time helping each other, providing fun places and content for members and visitors to our grids, and working together to resolve any issues that arise in an adult manner.

1 - Il faut télécharger opensim-0.9.3.0.zip sur http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page

2 - opensim 0.9.3.0 demande .NET version 8 ! à télécharger ici :

3 - Pour être en mode "Grille" simple (Standalone sans ROBUST) avec HyperGrid, dans le fichier OpenSim.ini tout à la fin vers la ligne 1356 il faut avoir ça :

Commenter la ligne 1356 et décommenter la suivante (commenter = mettre le point-virgule ';' au début de la ligne, décommenter = l'enlever)

4 - Dans bin/config-include il faut renommer GridCommon.ini.example en GridCommon.ini

5 - Toujours dans bin/config-include dans StandaloneCommon.ini décommenter la ligne 50 pour avoir :

(Ce qui fait 3 changements dans les lignes des .ini !)

Enfin en étant dans le dossier opensim/bin, lancer le serveur OpenSim.exe !
Bien valider l'alertes du pare feu pour opensim.exe, sinon il faudra aller le faire manuellement dans les paramètres.
Des lignes vont défiler puis normalement ça doit poser des questions (nom de la grille, de la région, du user ...)

Pour la connexion :
- Dans le NAT de la box il faut ouvrir les ports 9000 et 9001 tcp et udp (dans le doute on ouvre tcp ET udp)
- Ajouter localhost:9000 dans la config opensim de Firestorm !

BINGO ! on peut se connecter avec le user défini plus haut et partir dans l'HyperGrid !!
Et s'envoyer des objets et même en faire des sauvegardes (IAR) aussi.

Cette configuration minimal ne permettra surement pas d'avoir des visites ou bien de pouvoir revenir après une téléportation en HG mais comme le but est d'avoir une base pour se promener dans l'HG ça ne devrait pas être trop génant.

Mais voici les compléments de config à faire si on veut plus s'approcher d'une grille "normale", aux points notés plus haut par un *

- Pour permettre des visites facielement sons devoir indiquer le nom de la région il faut dans StandaloneCommon.ini ligne 114 :
Region_Nom_de_Votre_Region = "DefaultRegion, DefaultHGRegion, FallbackRegion"
(en remplaçant les éventuels espaces dans le nom par des 'soulignés' _
Dans le dossier opensim/bin/regions il faut modifier la ligne ExternalHostName = SYSTEMIP par votre IP externe ( http://whatismyip.com ) ou un domaine ou sous domaine pointant dessus.

- Si vous ne voulez pas garder le nom de la grille par défaut ( "the lost continent of hippo" ) modifier les lignes 229 et 232 dans StandaloneCommon.ini

- Après pour avoir les groupes et les messages ... il y a d'autres modifs à faire dans opensim.ini

Dans le dossier OpenSim/bin/Regions editez votre fichier Regions.ini ligne 3 Location = 1000,1000 et changez légerement ces coordonnées, comme 1010,1010 et relancez OpenSim.

GET A TEXT MESSAGE ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHEN A REGION GOES DOWN.
How to get text messages, emails, pushover, telegram, and jabber alerts if a region goes down on your grid. Well it's easy. Download servermonitor from https://github.com/phpservermon/phpservermon Next unzip it and upload it to your linux box. I put the files in /var/www/html/servermonitor.
Next get on your web browser and go to websiteaddress.com/servermonitor/install.php Fill in the questions. Set up a web database of your choosing. Create a user and a password. I did this: create database servers; create user 'someone'@'localhost' identified by 'password'; grant all on servers.* to 'someone'@'localhost'; flush priveleges;
Once that is set up, it's a breeze. Use the web interface to add servers to your list. For regions just enter a service and the port number the region is on. example service, custom port, 8007 Then select how you want to be notified if the region goes down. e.g. email or sms text message, etc. Finally using crontab -e enter * * * * * /usr/bin/php /var/www/html/servermonitor/cron/status.cron.php You are done. Now if one of your regions goes offline you will know about it in 60 seconds. Also you can add websites to the list to be monitored, mail servers, any kind of server really. It has a looooong list of server types that can be added. (very handy). Additionally you can click on a region and see it's uptime plotted hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly as well as LATENCY. We all know how important latency is for showing lag. :) Enjoy!

I need your input on something.

I am trying to decide whether to promote and put osw beacons on Friends region and Friends II. I have extremely mixed feelings on this subject, so I am requesting your input to help me make a decision.

As far as your individual regions, each of you can decide whether you want beacons or not.

The benefits:

We show friends-grid to a wider group of people…..possibly finding a new resident or two.

People can enjoy what we have built.


The cons:

Sometimes guests wander onto private areas instead of using tp to public places

Sometimes drama goes with recognition and popularity

For better or worse, I am sharing things I have done for online safety in Opensim, as the reader you can decide for yourself which actions to take. If you can learn from your own mistakes, you are pretty smart but if you can learn from SOMEONE ELSE'S mistakes, you are a genius!

After reading a number of posts on Opensimworld, it is apparent that some hobbyists of unaware of protections they have available when running Opensimulator for the first time. Some tinkerers may opt for running a simulator on their spare computer at home and connecting the region to an OPEN grid like OSgrid or Zetaworlds. Nothing beats the excitement of having your own land for the first time. You spend hours designing your city, giving it a theme, placing sit targets on all of your furniture; everything is 'ponies and rainbows' until some jerk comes in and decides to populate your territory with questionable objects in the hopes they can READ YOUR COMPLAINTS HERE ON OPENSIMWORLD while they are fondling their (ahem - your favorite depiction here) ego at your ire.

THE BEST RESPONSE TO TROLLS IS NO RESPONSE. When you ignore them, they move on to someone else who will make some noise... They are like vampires feeding off of negative energy.

The screenshot above illustrates things you can do to protect your simulators. In 'about land, options' section I un-check the Everyone boxes. Only Group users may use those features. You can also define who may enter, in 'about land, access' you can restrict access to a group or only certain individuals. Now some of you will say "Stop right there, my visitor's AO will not work or they cannot use their custom dance huds". The good news is that if your visitors are using the AO built into their viewer, that is not a problem, they will have their own custom animations or dances and will not need to run scripts. If the visitor is someone you can trust, you can allow them into the group... If you are having a party, you can temporarily enable script access to guests while you are present. When you are running the region it is up to YOU to POLICE IT. You have options for blocking hostiles in your built-in configuration files. There are also scripted solutions for traffic control where you can banish individual users, entire grids or IP ranges in real-time. You are free to seek out any technology which keeps your world safe. I strongly advise that you examine the code before employing these security devices.

For Hypergrid users: Enjoying a LAG-FREE experience is not the HOST's responsibility. IT IS YOURS.

As computers get more powerful each year, region operators WILL populate their sims with content that could bring many CPUs and display adapters to their knees. Lets face it, not everyone can afford to buy a new computer every year with all of the latest bells and whistles. When traveling you want to make sure your PC is optimized for controlling client side lag. Luckily, your viewer has features available to combat these issues. Reducing draw distance, particles, LOD and avatar complexity will give you better frame rates at the expense of reduced visual quality.

Other ways to protect yourself when traveling include: Making sure your SUITCASE IS EMPTY - the more junk you have in there, the more BLOAT that follows you as you travel. You can also make a lightweight hypergrid avatar. The screenshot above shows my actual inventory window. Instead of carrying everything on my person, I have everything rezzed on land in a hidden region on my grid that only I can access. Less inventory means less orange smoke at login. I have been told that some shady grid owners can use rogue simulator code see what is in your suitcase and copy it. I have also heard of grid operators cloning visitors via collision scripted objects - it is easy to copy stuff a cloned avatar is wearing. I always say "Never wear anything when traveling that you do not want some simpleton to copy". I have seen some nasty OSSL code that will crash the sim of the person who cloned you without permission. Trolling the trolls can be fun BUT I digress, TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE IT RIGHT.

Opensim does not have to be the 'WILD WILD WEST' - protect yourselves & protect your regions. You and your guests can enjoy the best of Opensimulator.

Reyn and I are excited to bring to you Rigged avatar store! We will be designing bento rigged mesh avatars a bit different than what you might be familiar with. These avatars are designed to work with the Y engine scripts. Clothing is included that can be worn simply by typing into local chat! No more searching through inventory for that favorite blouse!
