For the last 3 weeks, I have dealt with a intermittent issue on my grid that has about driven me nuts. I have tested, and eliminated possibilities …..without luck.

Yesterday two of the largest grid owners in open sim, Lone Wolf from Wolf Territories and Josh Boam from Aviworlds, took time from their busy schedules to help finally fix this issue. In addition , Rafael from Wolf Territories assisted. I cannot say thanks enough!

Although I work with Josh’s hosting business, this involved much more. Josh would not give up and recruited Lone Wolf.

In my opinion, maybe this is what opensim was designed to be: sharing of knowledge and helping each other.

Lone Wolf and Josh did not have to give up their time to help a tiny grid…..but they did!

Maybe we can all learn from these individuals!

FYI. The default setting of 2 threadsets can cause major headaches depending on your region….it is way too low in some cases. You all probably know that…but I learned.

When you come to Welcome at cyberdatastorm, if you use the environment settings, the air has a very smoky quality without the lag of 'smoke' particles. This effect is created through the environment loading in the menus. My welcome is very simple, so that people can load quickly without a lot of things to weigh them down. I believe it is always good to have a simple and easy to load welcome area on your grid. Everything is done in simple black & white. Another demo of tidal water, so this stream appears and disappears depending on the height of the tide. 99% of the regions on our grid use tidal water and there is a server that keeps them all in sync. You could have a castle with a tideal area around it that sometimes is under water and sometimes is not etc.

I remember 2 years ago when I didn't even know how to edit-linked! Soon after I discovered landscaping and the gratification (and frustration) that comes with it.
Current project: a 16 sims joined into a private residential area for Darkheart's. A lake area in the middle, mountains at the very end (not visible).
This is the first piece of land, still in progress - just main shape buildings and cliff-ing.
