"Hairpinning" Public Safety Annoucement and a small favor to ask of home Opensimulator server owners.

If you added a MAC address to a ban list, you may ban yourself, or ban all uses from any grid that uses a Loopback adapter for hairpinning. The problem is all Loopback adapters use the same MAC address. There is a different one for each type, such as WIndows, Mac and Linux.

Opensimulator servers require routers with working hairpinning so the server can find itself at the WAN's public IP. Loopback adapters are sometimes necessary at the server because not all home routers support hairpinning, a.k.a. Loopback. Only the the server can log in to itself, when the server has a loopback adapter. Others on thje same LAN can use a VPN, which moves the network endpoint outside the LAN, and onto the WAN.

Also, a lot of people think Loopback is needed for the Hypergrid. It's not. It only so the server can see itself at the external WAN IP.

I help maintain a list at http://opensimulator.org/wiki/NAT_Loopback_Routers of compatible and incompatible routers. Please, do us all a huge favor, and if your router for your home server is not listed, please comment the brand, model number and whether loopback works or not, and I will add it.

Thank you for coming out it is nice to see when you score. Remember to always wear your Scoring and Golf HUD both are needed in the game. HEAR YE! HEAR YE! Coming SOON! It's the Dinkie Haven Grand Opening!! This region is purely entertainment and social for Open Simmers of all walks of virtual life!! There are Amusement rides including a magnetic roller coaster built by yours truly, The Enterprise Ride also built by yours truly and a hot air balloon ride again, yup built by yours truly!! There are horses and ponies to ride on our horse and pony trail (Horses and Ponies courtesy of Roland Francis). There will be a couple of scavenger hunts as the 24th is International Scavenger Hunt day and you get to keep the items you find. There are Yacht rides, sail boats, jet skies, and speaking of skies, there is a beautiful winter ski lodge on the mountain and skies, snowmobiles, and horse and pony riding. :::breaths::: There is the Dinkie Haven Village where you'll find a bowling alley (Courtesy of Prince of Amore), a gorgeous dining hall/activity center and a large lodge where you can exercise and work those pounds off, tighten up those abs and be a dapper dinkie!! There is swimming and dancing with entertainment starting at 10am grid time and lasting until 4pm grid time.

My beautiful ballroom was a gift from my dear friend, Maximillian Svarovski, in Inworldz about 2013 and has followed me to every grid I have been on and is now up and ready for you to enjoy! She's been decorated and is sparkling and waiting for you to bring your sweetie for some intimate dancing, or for you to come with friends! Message me to schedule your wedding or party in this beautiful venue! She's ready for the themed and formal events we will have here too so stay tuned!! There is no other ballroom on any planet that has had more lovers, proposals, laughter and amazingly awesome music!!
