I want to post a brief follow‑up to my earlier statement.

I’ve been informed that Kamilian is leaving Wolf Territories. This development addresses the immediate concern that many residents have raised over the past year regarding the content he has been promoting. I appreciate that this situation is being taken seriously, and I hope this brings some relief to those who have been affected or uncomfortable.

My original message was never about creating conflict or targeting anyone personally — it was about protecting our community and maintaining the standards that make OpenSim a safe and welcoming place for everyone. With this change, I’m hopeful that we can move forward with more stability and clarity.

If anyone still has concerns, questions, or needs to talk privately, you are welcome to reach out to me directly. Our community deserves a space where people feel safe, respected, and supported, and I will continue advocating for that.

Work is progressing. When I can't connect and work on the LSL scripts, I handle the web development. Ultimately, everything communicates from Opensimulator to PHP/MySQL, which is then stored in the database. From the databases, the data is then transferred from PHP/MySQL to the website, which is currently under development. Today I'm working on player profiles. SECURITY: How your grid CAN handle HG traveler assets.

Opensimulator documentation is available but how many of us fully utilize it?

I have a confession to make: I feel like a complete imbecile! I followed instructions on some klutz of a website which gave me instructions on running a standalone grid... GREAT... everything is up and running smoothly. Now lets build some worlds and secure my....

EGAD! Suddenly, it dawned on me, I have been using this software for years and I did not completely READ THE F⭐⭐⭐ING MANUAL!

As a refugee from several worlds, my hosting journey began with a standalone setup, where I was blissfully unaware of the complexities involved in the handling of assets from hypergrid travelers. As a former Kitely merchant, I am looking into ways people can interact with my creations without taking them. Out of ignorance, I took the wrong security measures.

One of the common misconceptions that led to limitations, such as banning prim or mesh attachments (to avoid cheating) at Dismayland, is the belief that the server must download and store visitor assets to display them properly. This is not entirely true. By applying specific precautions, you can prevent visitor assets from being stored or affecting your environment.

So if you do not want "SL-Lara" on your grid, or you do not want the rot from someone's full suitcase, you can rest in the comfort of knowing their assets will not infect your world if you take the following precautions...

Restricting the ability for hypergrid visitors to rez objects or execute scripts is crucial. By doing so, you can effectively ensure that their assets are not saved in your database, significantly reducing the risks of unwanted modifications or overwrites. This approach provides a balanced way to maintain control over your creations while still offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy your content visually.

By understanding how asset management works in OpenSim and applying the correct security measures, you can create an environment that respects the creative efforts of your residents while sharing the beauty of your virtual worlds with others.

This approach is not without caveats: when you travel to other worlds, you WILL appear as a blob while your viewer shows you a cached appearance. It will not stop copycats, the most determined rippers can easily grab what is seen, but without your code and hidden assets, those useless rips end up in stuff boxes, wasting valuable server resources. There is nothing I enjoy more than making clever obstacles in today's virtual 'Wild Wild West'!

TL;DR: When we share knowledge openly and freely, EVERYONE BENEFITS.

We're making progress! Today we finished the spike, which can drain 10, 25, or even 40 liters of vital fluid. I'll add the video of the spike once I've finished the Soul Reaper, which is the next step. I apologize for the delay, but between my day job, family life, and other commitments besides OpenSimulator, I haven't been able to find much time to dedicate to it. Well Christmas 2025 is over and now belongs to the ages, 2025 is over and belongs to the ages as we continue endlessly moving forward and growing, but not to despair about what is gone, no we celebrate so much in the year to come, especially those we LOVE the most - friends, family, and our significant other, and so with that in mind I have created some "VALENTINES" items for y'all! working on speeding up FSAssetService, i noticed in the loop it's got hard-coded 1 second delay per asset. So on a simple thing with 30 assets that's an extra 30 second of nada nothing. I added config option in Robust.HG.ini under

[AssetService]
WriteSleepMs = 10

so that's 10ms or .01 seconds instead of 1000ms but you can adjust in the config how you like it. in the Writer() function i changed Thread.Sleep(1000); to Thread.Sleep(m_WriteSleepMs); (which pulls value from config, defaults to 1000 if dne)

I also moved the spool directory to RAM disk where it determines the hash, and it checks the RAM disk for existing file instead of hitting the drive. Then it does the actual movement from spool to data directory in a background thread without blocking. So far I'm seeing simple remote objects imported over HG taking about 20 seconds that took about 3 minutes originally.
