I have updated(up-cycled) the bonfire to align with the sun and moon positions for systems with a day–night cycle. During daylight, the flames will extinguish, and at night the fire will reignite with a dynamic flickering light effect, and it is available in my shop.
Recommended accessories include campfire Sounds (featuring immersive pops and crackles) and a smoke effect, which can be added using a smoke particle emitter placed beneath the bonfire for enhanced atmosphere.

Every week it seems we gather to say goodbye to another member of our OpenSim family. We mourn, we remember, and we honor those who helped shape our community.
But every farewell is also a reminder of something we all share: none of us gets out of life alive.
For many, OpenSim is an extension of real life. For others, it is a place to step away from life's worries for a while—to imagine, create, explore impossible worlds, and become someone or something extraordinary.
One of the greatest gifts our departed friends leave behind isn't just our memories of them. It's the regions they built, the scripts they wrote, the avatars they designed, the artwork they shared, the friendships they fostered, and the countless moments they made possible. Every time we visit one of their creations or use something they contributed, a little part of them is still with us.
Imagine if they had never created anything at all. We wouldn't have those places to explore, those ideas to build upon, or those memories to cherish. Their creativity became part of the world we continue to enjoy.
Perhaps the greatest way to honor those we've lost isn't only through memorial posts, but by making the most of the time we still have.
Build that region you've been dreaming about. Finish that avatar. Learn Blender. Write the story. Host the event. Share your imagination. Visit someone's creation. Make a new friend.

since .net8 and .net9 are end of life in november we are going to update our servers to .net10 and make a few major changes to the code. first off we will remove the ini based configuration system and introduce two new servers, an estate service and a region registry. an isolated opensim server will run the regions for an estate. this will also give a better interface for self-hosters who want to own their data.we are still in planning stages and comments/suggestion appreciated thanks much. graphic ai generated so i didn't have to spend an hour making it hehe.

GOODBYE MY FRIEND MALDRUL SMITH
The following is a clip from the Facebook Announcement concerning the IRL passing of our dear friend Maldrul Smith who DJ'd every event we had on our grid with very few exceptions. He was greatly loved by all of us and will be just as greatly missed. So many of us are stunned by this news but we pray for his family and friends that they may find comfort and peace. Maldrul was a dear, sweet soul who always found a way to cheer people up and was loyal to his friends. I just cannot say enough good about him.

Our wonderful friend and amazing DJ-Maldrul Smith has passed away IRL. With heavy hearts, we are sharing that George passed away on June 25, 2026, at 2:05 p.m. CST.
George was a loving father, devoted husband, proud Air Force veteran, and a strong provider and protector for his family. He had a deep love for technology and computer science, and he shared that knowledge and curiosity with his daughters throughout their lives.
While our family is grieving this heartbreaking loss, we find comfort in knowing that George is now reunited with his beloved wife, Charlotte. They were married for 51 years and are now together in eternity.
Thank you to everyone who loved George, shared memories with him, and supported our family. Your prayers, kindness, and words of comfort mean so much during this difficult time. Always Creating! LOVE IT! First let me say I LOVE Satyr Farming. I even tried to recreate it in Unity and Sinespace. I have noticed as of late that a lot of regions are banning the farming system because people go overboard with it and it lags the region. So it got me thinking. I have created a alternative RPG Farming system. 1 script controls 50 plants. The Hud works off XP and Coins and 1 script. The market vendor runs off 1 script. Buy and sell your goods. make clothes that give you XP boosts. Buy wood to build a house.. I have tried to implement the things I love about Satyr Farming, but make it friendlier for regions to run. I am still working on a build for this system and have not decided if I want to give this one away, but keep checking Who Knows on Osgrid. The basic Farming is there now, it does not have all the goodies.

Today, I lost one of the dearest friends I’ve ever had in OpenSim — Maldrul Smith. My heart is breaking in ways I can barely put into words. Mal wasn’t just a friend… he was one of those rare souls who made life feel lighter just by being present. Kind, compassionate, gentle, and always a true gentleman — that was Mal.
He had a sweetness about him that never felt forced. A warmth that wrapped around you the moment he spoke. And oh, his wit — always sharp, always playful, always ready to make me laugh when I needed it most. Mal was fun, interesting, thoughtful, and full of life. He was one of the few people I could talk to openly and honestly, without fear, without hesitation. He understood me. He listened. He cared.

We're talking synchronized humiliation. We're talking about fashion critique delivered with the venom of someone who has unhinged opinions.
