THE INIQUITOUS FUN FAIR — An OpenSim Story
What a crazy time we live in. The news cycle shows you a town in crisis while hiding the real story. But here in OpenSim, we have a Virtual Town in Crisis that is the real story... and you're invited.
Dismayland exists because of worldly conflict. It was inspired by Banksy, whose art has always held a mirror to the absurd. As an NPC enthusiast, I found a wellspring of ideas to draw from, even without seeing the original exhibit in person. My thought was simple: What if theme parks were truly honest with their customers?
As a Florida resident within driving distance of every major theme park... and well aware of the drama surrounding them... this scenario was too good to pass up. Everything here is fictitious, but loosely based on reality in ways that will be obvious only to those who follow local news. Take that for what you will.
What we have here is a Digital Virtual Novel you can explore. Leave your worries behind. Enjoy a nonsensical portrayal of the ridiculous... because that is what entertainment is. Nothing that happens here influences the outside world, as my friend Dorena was kind enough to point out. And what is a virtual novel without plot twists and some intrigue?
Enter the Scavenger Hunt.
Dirty Helga and I were brainstorming maddening additions for Dismayland. I reject most of what Hollywood produces these days, so I turned to older films for inspiration. I have seen scavenger hunts before but they were far too easy. I wanted something epic.. something outright crazy, yet honestly solvable.
What emerged: a game board that remotely renames objects, a separate script that deploys drones dropping clues, Lying NPCs, misdirection, MISINFORMATION and a cow being abducted by aliens who holds nothing but contempt for that insufferable game board. All of these elements were already present in Dismayland. I just needed code to make it all work together — and that is where the condescending Dirty Helga shines. Nobody knows this grid better than the two of us, and she was instrumental in stitching it all together.
There will always be some politics in OpenSim. My plan is to keep whatever exists here specific to the grid... not reality. When you're ready for your ESCAPE, The Iniquitous Fun Fair awaits.

The scripts alone speak for themselves. It is dark, creepy, funny and lots of fun.
I had a chance to check out his new ScavHunt game. The past few days I have spent hours in his region just playing that game and trying to win it which I eventually did. Maybe with a little help lol. It is one of those games that keeps you on the edge.
The region is like walking through a bad nightmare but in a cool twisted way that you get curious enough to check it out.
His mind created things that I would have never guessed you could even do in opensim. The detail, the music, the afterlife the insanity lol. It is a great region.

In short, I don't think Politics belongs on the OSW page. There is Facebook, Instagram, tictoc and other social media platforms to express our views. Most of us come here to Opensim to escape the BS, and we use the OSW page to see what is new in Opensim, not to have to deal with more ideologies and agendas. This is ToyBoy. We all know him as an active OpenSim user in OSW. He has many projects that inspire us, beautiful sims he invites us to, great events, technical support—what more can I say? A valiant champion of the OpenSim idea. Because of his diverse activities within Hypergrid, a certain troublemaker has rightfully caught his eye.
Now for the kicker: Dorena Verne, who occasionally posts political images with little captions. Yes, truly awful anarchist stuff from the wicked, wicked left-wing corner, ugh. Our eyes, like those of other users, are glued to these terrible images; we're paralyzed and can neither scroll on nor ignore the wicked Dorena, the power of a wicked witch.
What does Dorena actually do for OpenSim? Just offer several regions for HG visitors, hold at least one event per week. Or, yes, she recently posted a complete backup strategy for a grid under Linux.

What's that compared to the sheer number of OpenSim-related posts from our highly esteemed ToyBoy? Just look at his profile; it would take you hours to take it all in!!

Was tut Dorena schon groß für OpenSim? Nur etliche Regionen für HG-Besucher anbieten, mindestens einmal die Woche ein Event. Oder, ja vor kurzen mal eine komplette Backupstrategie für ein Grid unter Linux gepostet.

I am not particularly impressed by the threatening messages regarding legal action that I received. She has no case.
Unfortunately, knowing Dorena, all of this will not mean that she stops making nonsensical political statements on our OpenSim platform. It seems she is already busy again with an alt account, Sylvester.
My actions were intended to make clear that many people on this platform are completely fed up with her nonsense.
Who knows, maybe she will mend her ways someday ;)

HI all, So Wolf Software Systems Ltd owns Wolf Territories Grid. Some time ago, we released some software called WolfStack for running server clusters. I am extremely pleased and excited to announce that I have obtained a license (and yes for those of you that may know this, I confirmed it today for sharing with the community--which is YOU , as an amateur) for KDU. For those that don't know what that means...it is well-- some of you said firestorm still looks a bit better than my work..well it is because of OpenJpg having to be used in opensim. The story is extremely long, it falls like star wars..long ago in a galaxy far away..I don't mind chatting with you about it, though, so say hello if you want to. KDU is the texture library firestorm uses. I wrote them and got the license for 150 dollars! I also added a zoom to whatever object is selected for editing. While it is selected just choose ALT+Z or in Controls in prefs choose your own. In Blender (.) zooms to selected so I duplicated the idea. https://maze.bz/mazebzviewer.zip

Let me reiterate for everyone: If I belonged to a radical terrorist wing of the autonomous movement, would I be posting here? They keep to themselves and would kick my ass if I posted so openly. It's World Puffin Day and Fianna Rua has some kick ass Puffins. There are free to copy/buy for 0 birds on the South West side of the lighthouse on the rocks. There are some others that are simply to be admired:)
