Where do i even begin with this book...Fight Club obviously captivated me enough to read more of Mr. Palahniuk's novels...and gosh am I happy I did. But I have to admit...this one even shocked *me*, from chapter 1.
A gang of adolescent terrorists, a spelling bee, and a terrible plan masquerading as a science project: This is Operation Havoc.
Pygmy is one of a handful of young adults from a totalitarian state sent to the U.S. , disguised as exchange students. Living with American families to blend in, they are planning an unspecified act of massive terrorism that will bring this big dumb country and its fat dumb inhabitants to their knees. In his finest novel since the generation-defining Fight Club, Palahniuk depicts Midwestern life through the eyes of this indoctrinated little killer.

On their fifth anniversary, Amy mysteriously disappears, and Nick quickly becomes the prime suspect. The story unfolds through alternating perspectives: Nick's present-day account of the investigation and Amy's past diary entries detailing the couple's relationship. As the police investigation intensifies, Nick's lies, deceit, and inappropriate behavior come to light, making him look increasingly guilty. However, the diary entries reveal Amy's calculated and manipulative nature, suggesting she may not be the innocent victim she appears to be. The novel explores themes of marriage, deception, media influence, and the dark side of relationships.

On Saturday, August 9th, we will be having a celebration of life at the Bright Shore region. This region is owned and designed by our grid member Terri S (Eva Marie) who has done an amazing job of designing and decorating this region which is based on the movie Widow Clicquot . Madame Clicquot is credited with major breakthroughs, creating the first known vintage champagne in 1810, and inventing the riddling table process to clarify champagne in 1816. In 1818, she invented the first known blended rosé champagne by blending still red and white wines, a process still used by the majority of champagne producers. During the Napoleonic Wars, Madame Clicquot made strides in establishing her wine in royal courts throughout Europe, notably that of Imperial Russia. So Saturday we will be celebrating life and the things we can accomplish when we set our minds to it. Our DJ will be Maldrul Smith and the Hostess is Terri S (Eva Marie). Join us for some really great music and dancing and let's celebrate together. And have a glass of champagne with us. The celebration begins at 2pm grid time and the dress code is casual.
