There's a bowling alley you can get from somewhere on OS, it's wrecks your server without much showing up in the logs and no spike in CPU. it's hard to identify. what you looks for in 65 prim bowling_pins that are physical and stacking up at 0,0,0 on the region where the alley is rezzed. if you notice your av movement jittery and laggy on _any_ region - check it out. pretty much only way is to look in your database. they won't show up in area search and trying to get to 0,0,0 on the region is not fun.

really the bowling alley needs fixed, it should only set the pins physical when the ball is close and stay physical for only 10 secs or so... the way it is now they are always physical and somehow the rezzer keeps spitting them out and they end up at 0,0,0 hehe.

then delete bowling_pins and the bowling balls too. you have to hurry and restart the region before it saves the state back to disk (after deleting)

How sad has it become if a closed grid starts making avatars on other (our) grids, and contact renters on our grid to come there.
You really have to make it like that?

Unfortunately renters of our grid were contacted and were promised free land if they would join.
sure, free land is nice but if you have a pay system and the coins are expensive ...lol

My renters are smart enough not to fall for it, and everybody is free to give free land

I've noticed the beacons seem to go offline a lot more lately. I have the latest version.

I can reboot them and then they're back online with no issue. But I've never had to do so many reboots as I have in the last few months.

Just wanted to report it in case I'm not the only one.

Every week it seems we gather to say goodbye to another member of our OpenSim family. We mourn, we remember, and we honor those who helped shape our community.

But every farewell is also a reminder of something we all share: none of us gets out of life alive.

For many, OpenSim is an extension of real life. For others, it is a place to step away from life's worries for a while—to imagine, create, explore impossible worlds, and become someone or something extraordinary.

One of the greatest gifts our departed friends leave behind isn't just our memories of them. It's the regions they built, the scripts they wrote, the avatars they designed, the artwork they shared, the friendships they fostered, and the countless moments they made possible. Every time we visit one of their creations or use something they contributed, a little part of them is still with us.

Imagine if they had never created anything at all. We wouldn't have those places to explore, those ideas to build upon, or those memories to cherish. Their creativity became part of the world we continue to enjoy.

Perhaps the greatest way to honor those we've lost isn't only through memorial posts, but by making the most of the time we still have.

Build that region you've been dreaming about. Finish that avatar. Learn Blender. Write the story. Host the event. Share your imagination. Visit someone's creation. Make a new friend.

Don't spend all your time debating what OpenSim should be or dwelling on what might have been. Spend it creating what it can become.

Our friends who have passed leave us with more than memories—they leave us with a reminder that time is precious. None of us knows how many tomorrows we have.

I have updated(up-cycled) the bonfire to align with the sun and moon positions for systems with a day–night cycle. During daylight, the flames will extinguish, and at night the fire will reignite with a dynamic flickering light effect, and it is available in my shop.

since .net8 and .net9 are end of life in november we are going to update our servers to .net10 and make a few major changes to the code. first off we will remove the ini based configuration system and introduce two new servers, an estate service and a region registry. an isolated opensim server will run the regions for an estate. this will also give a better interface for self-hosters who want to own their data.we are still in planning stages and comments/suggestion appreciated thanks much. graphic ai generated so i didn't have to spend an hour making it hehe.
