Hey guys, I have some exciting great news about the E Grid, and some semi-bad news. Well it isn't really bad as such, more of a heads up.
So the semi bad first: From the 11th to the 24th of March, the Grid will be completely down, as we install and work on upgrading new regions and doing massive multiple backups. They are BIG backups, and it can't do them correctly with the grid running, sadly.
As you already see, Builds Ahoy seems down for the most, due to the crash at Osgrid.
We are backing up and then backing up again.
The good news:
We're going to be back fully, with most or all of our former regions. We have a new Server situation and its going to allow us to do this.
I will be adding lands today here, bear in mind most will be up 24/7 but not all. We have a good amount of large lands, and in order to do this, at times a few will be offline. Again please remember we'll be down totally 11th to 24th this month. We're doing this to safeguard ALL our assets in multiple places.

The way I work is a back and forth between the virtual and the real;
Most of the time, everything starts with a 3D model that is often used in my virtual installations, then this model is printed in 3D and becomes a physical sculpture. Finally, I sometimes scan these sculptures while keeping the alterations they contain and reintroduce them into the virtual space.

Ich weiĂ, eigentlich wollte ich vorerst mit politischen Statements zurĂŒckhalten, aber das hier muss nun sein.

Die Welt befindet sich in einem radikalen Wandel. Die politischen, sozialen und ökologischen Herausforderungen sind massiv und drĂ€ngend, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Klimakrise und globale Ungleichheit. Angesichts dieser UmstĂ€nde halte ich es fĂŒr illusorisch und schĂ€dlich, auf den Status quo zu setzen. Die Mitte der politischen Landschaft, die oft den Erhalt des Bestehenden propagiert, kann keine Lösung bieten, da sie die realen, tiefgreifenden Probleme unserer Zeit nicht anerkennt und keine effektiven, mutigen Lösungen verfolgt.

The world is undergoing radical change. The political, social and environmental challenges are massive and pressing, especially with regard to the climate crisis and global inequality. Given these circumstances, I believe it is illusory and harmful to rely on the status quo. The center of the political landscape, which often advocates the preservation of the status quo, cannot offer a solution because it does not recognize the real, profound problems of our time and does not pursue effective, bold solutions.
2. The position of the center: illusion of stagnation
The center seeks to preserve the existence of institutions and structures without acknowledging the profound changes necessary to keep pace with the challenges of the 21st century. The fear of change leads to delayed action that leads us into dangerous stagnation. However, the world's problems are too pressing to rely on a comfortable but ultimately inadequate adaptation. Business as usual is an attitude that will lead the world into the abyss.
3. The Right: Ignorance and Selfishness
The right-wing of politics not only denies the obvious problems such as climate change and social injustice, but often does so against its better judgment. Its selfish populist agenda is focused on short-term political gains that endanger long-term prosperity and survival. The "after me the deluge" attitude is a dangerous, short-sighted ideology that puts the existence of the general public at risk to secure the luxury and power of a privileged minority.
4. The Left: Honesty and Responsibility
The left-wing of politics takes the pressing challenges seriously and strives to actively address them. It calls for profound societal changes to ensure social justice, sustainability and climate protection. This position is not only more honest, but also forward-looking, as it seeks realistic solutions to our problems. However, the danger of extremism must not be underestimated. A violent revolution or utopian, radical solutions would only lead to chaos and destruction and would not solve the existing problems. Reposting this as it is an important fix any grid can and should run. There is a patch in core Opensimulator code as of 2/15 to allow outfits to load correctly without breaking links. This has been a bug forever, and was caused by loading IARs. For the those grids that do not use core's latest 0.9.3.1 dev (PBR), I have SQL for grid owners to fix their broken links in outfits. DreamGrid has this patch for future uploads, and also will run this SQL to repair all old outfits. You need do nothing except update to the latest DreamGrid 6.02 (Non PBR) or 7.02 (PBR). DreamGrid will automatically fix old as well as IAR uploads, even in V6 series which is Opensim 0.9.2 ( Non PBR )
Mysql SQL code is this:
use robust; //with whatever your database is. For standalones it may be 'opensim' as there is no robust.
show databases; // will show you which databases you have and their names.
use robust;
update inventoryfolders set type = 47 where foldername='My Outfits' and type = -1;

OSGRID is NOT a TEST GRID!!! I was wrong and have been corrected by Fred and others. Osgrid is a full production services grid. I thought it was a test grid and as a result you all had no right to be so angry at them because with a test grid there are no guarantees. But I was completely wrong. You guys have every right to be angry and mad. You've lost all your inventory from an actual production grid. No IAR's, No OAR's. Nothing. Years of your life down the drain. Hours of building and creating and scripting wasted. Everything gone. I understand your frustration and hatred now.

Remember back about 7 months ago, when Pagane and I told you all that Firestorm viewer was messing up the asset databases? Many called us liars. We even found the text and I copied and pasted it directly from the firestorm website that says this is true... https://opensimworld.com/post/112006 You can see it all in that original post above ^ Well now the situation has gotten so bad that users are starting to notice. Grids are starting to fall. etc. etc. Pagane works in her own business. One of the unique things she did is make a cacheless implementation of opensimulator. It was because of this that she stumbled across this problem the instant she upgraded her viewer above 6.6.14 as any viewer above that number has had some commits made that alter the way the data is read/written from the database. Again, remember, please, that firestorm ADMITS this on their own site. So for those of you who listened to us, enjoy your grid. To those who did not listen to us, enjoy your rebuild.
Note: because of Paganes cacheless implementation, when she upgraded her viewer to 6.6.16 she instantly saw her database getting destroyed instantly on the screen in front of her. Repair database, go back to 6.6.14 everything works. ok so far so good. reinstall 6.6.16 - boom database destroyed again. Repeat these steps, this time install 6.6.17 same problem - boom database crashes instantly. This has continued happening all the way up to the 7.x series.

DEAR PEOPLE WITH BROKEN OARS AND IARS. Take them to grid.wolfterritories.org and ask Lone Wolf to help you. He has made a system that can REPAIR your iar and oar by seeking the same UUID object from other grids databases and inject the fixed one into your IAR or OAR. This means that in most cases you get ALL OF YOUR INVENTORY AND OAR BACK. Wolf territories also stores their assets in an object format like instagram and youtube do that serve millions customers worldwide. They have for example 30 robust servers running all the time with load balancing, which means no more lost assets. I hope this helps you all. ** Note, I may be mistaken that it is off of the UUID - as I am not privy to the tech Lone invented. That was just my first guess. Saccw pointed out that uuid's are assigned randomly to new items and he/she is correct. So it seems I made an assumption without thinking about it much. Apologies. I should further clarify that Lone is not attempting to capitalize off of osgrid's misfortune. I posted this post without his knowledge and then told him about the post I made. See so many people are asking Lone to recover their iar's and oar's that it's a lot of work for him to sit there and personally upload the file, and use his tech to fix it, and then give it back to the person. Lone's grid is a land rental grid, and the whole process is much easier if the oar and iar are already on the system, think bandwidth and server cost, not to mention personal time.

Then apple replaced the apple motherboards with ARM hardware. Now apple is an ARM PC running BSD with a tiny rainbowless apple emblem. |
