Wolf Territories Home

We are in shock this morning as our wonderful Luna Lunaria, for whom Wolf had become her home, has passed. We will not be taking her regions down unless instructed to do so. They are some of the most incredible, beautiful regions in OpenSim. We'll just leave them where they are and we'll be placing a memorial at our Memorial region today. Please get in touch with Lone Wolf at our grid or lone@wolfterritoriesgrid.org if we can be of any assistance.

Lone will be at the welcome area as usual today.


Wolf is in Mourning

Dublin, including the airport and docks, is in our Wolf Nation region. (Ireland, basically). 400x400 region. On SL, this region would be about $7.9 million per month; this one region is bigger than SL's total land area.

Please use WolfStorm or WolfViewer to visit; normal Firestorm will crash. https://wolfgrid.org < get them here. We have a lot of Galway done as well, and we're looking to move this region to its own server. 4096 Draw Distance;

This is just the start. New region sizes available for rent 50x50, 100x100 and 200x200.

So we have decided to give public access to our WolfStorm web viewer for OpenSim. It's in Alpha (after a couple of years of work) - this is a complete rewrite of Firestorm as a Web Application with a rust proxy.

We have developed a tool that can bulk create and load regions from oar files by the customer filling in a simple spreadsheet if anyone needs assistance. We moved 87 regions to Wolf Grid yesterday. Our assets are stored in Object Storage which is spread across multiple servers and locations. We maintain 2 live backups of the assets at any time. If it gets low on space we just buy more space.

We are offering free migration for the next month.

(no AI). So some of you are aware we have been working on hyper regions at Wolf. We have a 200x200 region (40,000 SL regions in size), we have loaded the terrain of my beloved Ireland on it (with some mods for the rivers). Note you will need WolfViewer or use WolfStorm to visit it - the region is called Wolf Nation. I'm not sure where we will go from here with it https://wolf-grid.com.

Warning FIRESTORM will crash if you try and visit this region with it.

Vehicle couplings on Wolf Territories: trailers, caravans and trains that really hitch up.

Trailers and caravans on Wolf Territories are now joined to their vehicle by a real physics joint in the region's physics engine (ubODE and BulletSim both), not a script chasing the truck. The trailer swings, tracks round corners and is pulled like the real thing.

How it works
- The front vehicle (truck, car, locomotive) gives itself a coupler key and names its hitch points: a fifth wheel, a tow ball, a coupler hook.
- The rear (trailer, caravan, carriage) asks to attach to that key at that point. Back the truck up to the trailer and it couples once the hitch points are within reach (3 m by default).
- The coupling is saved in the object and comes back after a region restart, after editing, and across region crossings, until you detach.
- It uses your own key name, not a UUID, so it survives take and rez. Only vehicles with the same owner couple, so your key never clashes with anyone else's.

Joint types: WOLF_JOINT_BALL (tow ball, caravans), WOLF_JOINT_FIFTHWHEEL (articulated lorries),
WOLF_JOINT_COUPLER (railway)
Status: WOLF_ATTACH_NONE, WAITING, COUPLED, BROKEN. Pull a pair too far apart and it breaks away.

The WolfStorm web viewer's script editor already highlights the new functions and shows their tooltips.

Come and try them: truck and trailer, car and caravan, and a train running on its own railway loop are on the Sandbox region.

Couplings are rolling out across the grid today; each region picks them up at its restart. These are Wolf Territories features and won't work on other grids.

I'm so excited to report that Wolf Software Systems Ltd has signed a partnership with MariaDB. As we own the grid, we will be upgrading our databases to the latest version of Galera Cluster (5 nodes) and Maxscale. We will be working with Mariadb next week on the deployment plan.

We have released WolfVoice to GitHub this morning - this is a complete WebRTC setup for OpenSim, so you can switch off Vivox or add voice to any grid. It includes the server software and full setup instructions.

We've been working on our wolfstorm web based viewer for opensim, with VR and Mobile support, I'm excited to say we are really getting to our first release (beta), it will only run on Wolf Grid right now because when you login you are giving your username and password. Just wanted to show you our welcome centre rendered in a web browser, no downloads.

WolfViewer Smooth Seal is out. Wolf Grid users now have sailing and flying controls including autopilot. (That's not a hud it's part of the viewer) also running on our web viewer WolfStorm
