What am I looking for? Information about how friending works in Open Sim, and what techniques some of you use.
I am new to OS, but not to virtual life. I have noticed that if I friend someone who is a member of the same grid as me, they will remain in my friends list. If I friend someone who is a member of a different grid, it is likely they do not appear in my friends list.
So how do you get around this?
Do you have a workaround? I am assuming they must have evolved over time.
Or am I missing something simple?
Maybe people just friend those from their own grid? lol
Anyhow... all information, advice and thoughts on this subject most welcome.
And for the record... I do consult with my favourite Chatbots before asking questions in here, but whilst they were aware of the difficulties, they could not find satisfactory resolutions in the various forums etc that they searched.

Some grids just don't work fine with friendlist, or groups also.
I have several accounts on different grids, all are friended, I just don't see some accounts online, some work, some not.

As JamieWright said, when you meet somebody on your travels and add them, both you and them need to accept the friend request again when returning to your home grids. if the other person doesn't do it then it will likely fail and wont stick.
If you are on your home grid when adding someone then I don't think you have to accept it again, but they will need to when they return back to theirs.
I'm not sure if you will still have their calling card in your inventory if the request failed, but if you do then you should be able to work out what grid they are from and contact them.

Hmmm...I do have hypergrid friends on my friends list. Although you're OSGrid. I'm not sure I've friended anyone on my OSGrid self since the reset over there. Generally speaking friend requests and accept when you're beside the other person, not across the hypergrid. Often when you land back at your home grid it will ask you to confirm. and then they should be on there. You'll even see them pop online from afar after. In theory....it should work.

Ah yes I see the logic of that. Friending them again, or confirming it again when back on your home grid puts that information into the servers on your home grid. (this may not be how it works from a tech point of view but in my mind I am happy with that lol) I can understand it that way. Thanks for the reply.
