The whole fun about opensims is the ability to explore if it wasn't for that its just boring. Most if not all grids have places to shop. I would not suggest one grid rather than the other for Items of need.

Things I take away from this video:
1) People who test stuff before using it in OpenSim exist. Even if the stuff they test isn't theirs.
2) We seem to really need shopping guides. The "What are you looking for?" group (https://opensimworld.com/groups/1060) is a first step, though.
Any way I can recommend locations to Lyr?

Thanks for mentioning the What Are You Looking For Group. However, its aim is not to provide a general shopping guide. That will be done by a separate "Where Are The Best Places to Buy Stuff" group. It will have posts and comment threads by OSW members about the best places to buy specific types of items, like landscaping, structures, hair, etc.
I'll start the group soon as a benefit to OS shoppers. But also, I will use the information in a concrete way. My soon-to-be opened shop Marche Noir (the Black Market) already has a "Recommended Shops" display for landscaping items with soon to be set-up HG TP boards for R. Lion and Flora. (Right now the vendors offer LMs).
In my mind, part of "sharing is caring" is sharing traffic. In fact, my shop doesn't want to be judged by traffic. I prefer it be judged by likes and comments. And Marche Noir won't stock items best found in other locations. What we will stock is a topic for the Grand-Opening announcement.

That's why I've written it's a first step. If someone's looking for something specific, the group can help them. Better than nothing or asking around on the frontpage or, as usual, in the chat box.

Indeed. The front page posts asking for shopping tips get buried in posts about events. Comments in the box are ephemeral. OSW members will be better served by the group. And the recommended shop displays in Marche Noir will be a unique resource that will provide a perhaps more enduring guide.

I think the best way to do this might be on Discord. There I can set up channels for each category of content like Landscapes, Hair, Structures and the like. I guess I'll try both -- an OSW group, where it won't be as organized, and Discord, where I can be as anal as I please.
