As no-one else who was at the meeting has posted this yet, here's kind of good news from Sunday:

OSgrid will not shut down forever!

It will shut down on December 31st at midnight, yes. But it'll shut down in order to wipe the asset server. Same thing as the Asset Reset last year. Then it will come back online.

This means your accounts and your avatars are safe. They will not be deleted. You will not have to register new accounts or create new avatars. You will get to keep the avatars which you have now. They'll just have empty inventories.

This also means you've got time until December 30th to save the stuff you have in OSgrid that you need to save. But please don't wait until the last moment. If all those who can export IARs do it at the same time, this will overload the asset server. (Yes, IARs are safe. They're copies of your inventory. Your inventory is not poisoned, even though the asset server itself is.)

If you have land attached to OSgrid, you may export an IAR. If not, I myself recommend you to send the items that you absolutely need saved to an avatar in another grid (and items that can be picked up from freebie stores right now don't fall under this category). Basically the same as last year, remember?

If you don't have land, but you absolutely need an IAR export for some reason (and laziness is no such reason, sorry), you may send albertIr Landar an e-mail, and he'll export an IAR for you. He will need your OSgrid login password for that. Again, don't wait until the deadline and ask him then. Even albertIr can only export so many IARs at any given time, and if 100 users mail him to export their IARs on December 30th, he most certainly won't get all 100 done before the shutdown.

One thing will change: OSgrid won't let anyone and everyone attach sims just like that anymore, starting next year. Only "trusted" hosters will be allowed to attach sims. Don't ask me what exactly that means; the OSgrid board hasn't published a definition yet either. I've overheard at the meeting that those who have sims attached to OSgrid right now count as trusted. But don't take this for official information.

If you want official information from the board: Wait until the OSgrid wiki is updated.
