From what I've read, there must be a bug in OpenSim itself that causes this malfunction. If you have a var, and you set the landing at a point with X and/or Y beyond 255, then it will always end up 128,128. If you only have a standard region, everything works as intended, maybe also if you have a var, and the landing coordinates stay between 0,0 and 255,255.

That's why there are so many varsims with a small landing island at 128,128.

There's no issue on the OpenSim Mantis, though, so I guess the devs don't know about this bug yet. Maybe we could conduct some tests to verify the bug (if there is one), make it reproduceable and file an issue.

Make sure when setting landing point, you set teleport routing to landing point.

hypergrid and region teleports with out <x,y,z> wil alwys land on the default landing spot by default its set on (128,128, 10) in the region configurations server side.
u need to manually change your default landing position in your region ini files it's not the beacons fauld.

or u can in the region about land tab force your landing spot to a locket teleport position but this is limited to only the main parcel

most try to cheat this problem with collision force teleport scripts but i don't recommend doing it this way because it's not good to force a teleport before a user/avatar is loaded in world.

The default landing will always be at 128,128, 0, and the 0 can change depending on the height of the land. The first thing I do when placing a new region is to mark the default landing spot, and then my build commences with this in mind. So I build around it rather than fight it. I learned my lesson the hard way with Land OF Xzar, my first region. I wanted people to land in the forest, far away, but they land at a ranch. I decided to let them and tried to make the ranch look fabulous, though I am thinking about doing a collision TP to throw them in the forest, and then maybe people will start walking around rather than standing there and camming. You folks that do that miss so much!!! Ride a dragon, take a boat, ride a horse...I even let you fly on your own. Best of luck figuring out what works best for you.
So my solution is build around it and make the landing spot welcoming and part of the story you want to tell. I have done that with every region after Xzar and it is a lot less headache to go with the flow.

I have a collidable prim at 128 128 0 which will teleport the avatar to the location I want them. Don't ask me how people end up there sometimes. I have hard landing points set, sometimes Opensim likes to be goofy.

The beacon will always land people at 128,128. The height is determined by the level of the land or objects there. I've landed underwater when there was no land or objects there. The last thing people want is to drown visitors (at least most of them). With that in mind, here are some things to do, from easiest to the more time consuming.

LATE NOTE: Other comments say this won't work. It's been some time since I've done this, and have no way of testing at the moment. But perhaps those who have tried setting the landing zone didn't click on the Teleport routing drop-down menu. And select Landing Point. Two more ideas with details coming soon: Place an invisible object with a TP on contact script or redo your build (It can be easier than you think, as the details will explain),

Easiest: Set and Enforce A Landing Point.
1. What: Set a Landing Point and select the option Teleport Routing to it.
2. How: In the Firestorm viewer...
1. Go where you want people to land.
2. Click on the menu bar.
3. Select the options tab.
4. In the lower right, select “Set Landing Point.
5. You will then see the Landing Point values. You can clear it if you want/need to.
6. Click on the Teleport routing drop-down menu.
7. Select Landing point
3. Test: Use the URL from your OSW page for your region. You should land at your set landing zone. Let me know if that works or not

I've been told that's a default setting in opensim. No matter where you place the beacon or set the landing point, Hypergrid visitors will always land at the 128, 128 coordinates in the region.. Solution is to make a small landing area there with a teleporter to the actual area you want them to go to, like a simple box with a big "TP to m my store" sign that teleports them there. I use "Valteleporter" from Vallands, super easy to set up and only one script so not heavy on the region at all.

Don't feel alone! I placed mine and it gives the totally wrong SLurl. If you click the yellow bar in my listing, it just says not found, I know no way to fix it, have tried the same things you have. I am watching this thread for answers as well!
