Testing MeshyAI for Jewelry Parts: A First Workflow Experiment

I was recently asked whether I had ever tried using MeshyAI to create jewelry parts.

At the time, I had not.

Rather than simply answering the question, I decided to test it and document the process. This example represents my first experiment using MeshyAI-generated geometry as a starting point for jewelry development.

I stepped away from creating jewelry for a while—sometimes you need that pause. The break gave me space to reflect, reset, and let new ideas come through naturally. I’m feeling inspired again and looking forward to bringing a few fresh pieces to life soon. Thank you for the many IM asking me to create that special piece. I have various circlets and tiaras created at the back of the store by the wedding rings. I woke up to a message from @Ferdzee casually saying, "Oh, by the way, your grid now supports PBR." Wait, WHAT? PBR? You mean DG has PBR now? Yep! Shiny, beautiful gold—Yay! I enjoy creating caged beads and thought it would be fun to create a little kit of a few caged beads, round and elongated beads so that you can create your own necklaces. You can also add these to your charm bracelets. I started you out with a few beads and will add more beads as I make them.

In Memory of J. Wallace

Today I learned that my friend J. Wallace passed away in June 2024.

J was more than a friend. He was a contributing writer for my Climate of Our Future blog and someone whose passion for our oceans was truly inspiring. One of the stories he often spoke about was Adelita, the remarkable loggerhead sea turtle whose incredible journey across the Pacific helped change our understanding of sea turtle migration forever.

Years ago I created LivBlue at Great Canadian Grid as a tribute to J's work and his dedication to our oceans. When that grid closed, LivBlue found a new home on 3HG, where it continues to celebrate marine life and ocean conservation.

In his memory, I have created the Adelita Choker, a silver sea turtle necklace inspired by the grace, endurance, and extraordinary journey of Adelita. I hope it serves as a small reminder that one person's passion can inspire others for years to come.

About Rigged Jewelry in My Shop

Some visitors have asked about resizing or rigging jewelry to fit their avatars. Here’s how it works:

Rings: My rings are rigged for a standard female hand shape. Often they will also fit men’s avatars, but for a perfect fit I would need to rig the ring to that exact avatar’s mesh. That requires uploading their full avatar to Blender, which most people understandably don’t want to (or don’t know how to) do. Because of the time and complexity involved, I don’t offer custom rigging.

Necklaces & Other Jewelry: Rigging necklaces to avatars isn’t practical. They tend to move in unrealistic ways, “flopping” around the body. Static or unrigged versions usually look better in-world.

Why I Don’t Offer Rigging Services: Every avatar body and hand mesh is different, and keeping up with all of them would be impossible. Rigging each piece individually takes significant time and effort.
