I want to make the OpenSim community aware that the OpenSimWorld account @VeronicaR has changed its display name to Marianna.

I am Marianna Monentes, known to many of you throughout my years in Second Life and OpenSim.

I am not affiliated with @VeronicaR in any way. This account does not represent me, my creations, my regions, or any projects I am involved with.

I am sharing this simply to avoid confusion among my friends and others in the community.

Thank you to everyone who knows me and respects the identity I have established over the years.

A fitting note The Rose Thorne Set is intentionally unrigged. Rigging distorted the delicate vines, thorns, roses, and jewel details, and avatar body shapes vary too widely for a single rigged fit to work well for everyone.

Each piece attaches to an appropriate avatar attachment point, allowing you to position, rotate, and resize it for your individual body shape.

Simply wear, edit, and adjust to fit. Attach to Pelvis, Chest and Upper Arm.

This approach preserves the original jewelry design while giving you much more flexibility for your avatar.

🦋 Butterflies Always Near 🦋

Butterflies have a very special meaning to me.

At 96 years old, my mother was still creating. One of the last things she made for her daughters was a sequined butterfly. She carefully placed every single sequin by hand. She passed away only a few months later, on September 18, 2024.

Those butterflies became something I treasure, and now they have inspired this little creation.

Butterflies Always Near is a butterfly choker created in remembrance of my mother and also in memory of Dolly Parton, whose love of butterflies made this tribute feel especially fitting.

Each choker comes nestled inside a lavender butterfly keepsake box and will be given as a gift at Monentes Jewelry.

A butterfly may only stay for a moment, but somehow its beauty stays with us.

For those we love, and those we remember — butterflies are always near. 🦋

Jackie — Wings of Remembrance 🦅

Today I created a piece that means more to me than jewelry.

The passing of Jackie, the beloved Big Bear bald eagle, touched my heart deeply. Watching her life, her devotion to her nest, and seeing her young finally take flight made her story one I will never forget.

In her memory, I created Wings of Remembrance, a silver eagle choker with her wings spread wide—symbolizing strength, freedom, love, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Some creations begin as an idea. Others begin in the heart. This was one of those.

In Memory of J. Wallace

Today I learned that my friend J. Wallace passed away in June 2024.

J was more than a friend. He was a contributing writer for my Climate of Our Future blog and someone whose passion for our oceans was truly inspiring. One of the stories he often spoke about was Adelita, the remarkable loggerhead sea turtle whose incredible journey across the Pacific helped change our understanding of sea turtle migration forever.

Years ago I created LivBlue at Great Canadian Grid as a tribute to J's work and his dedication to our oceans. When that grid closed, LivBlue found a new home on 3HG, where it continues to celebrate marine life and ocean conservation.

In his memory, I have created the Adelita Choker, a silver sea turtle necklace inspired by the grace, endurance, and extraordinary journey of Adelita. I hope it serves as a small reminder that one person's passion can inspire others for years to come.

Testing MeshyAI for Jewelry Parts: A First Workflow Experiment

I was recently asked whether I had ever tried using MeshyAI to create jewelry parts.

At the time, I had not.

Rather than simply answering the question, I decided to test it and document the process. This example represents my first experiment using MeshyAI-generated geometry as a starting point for jewelry development.

First an idea. Then the drawing. Then realization. Created in Rhino from scratch using curves, extrusion, and capping, with cabochons and beading using array along the curve. No AI then, Just imagination, design, and craftsmanship. When you learn the tools anything is possible. The key is to try the tools and addons. Blender has wonderful addon called JewelCraft https://blender-addons.org/jewelcraft/. Spend just a few minutes a day learning it and in no time you will be creating wonderful designs. Some say I really don't need jewelry in virtual but when you replicate your grandmothers ring or learn to do that for others it is wonderful. I once created a book locket and a grandmother's ring for someone those are my most fond memories. Thank you for the requests. I was asked have I tried MeshyAI in jewelry creating, not yet but I have played a bit with MeshyAI and yes I see how it can create wonderful mesh parts for jewelry virtually, not so much for RL jewelry. I recently 3d printed in wax my Peace for Ukraine Pendant and the detail is really nice, the next step is lost wax casting. Give jewelry creating a try, having a ton of fun!!

Remember I have placed the Monentes Rose around the grid. When you see one touch it as it will give you a gift! Some roses have complete kitchens it isn't just jewelry, touch for unique items I find at Sketchfab and other free resource sites. These roses have been placed gridwide, have fun!

I stepped away from creating jewelry for a while—sometimes you need that pause. The break gave me space to reflect, reset, and let new ideas come through naturally. 2026: Learn to Create—Because Ideas Deserve to Exist

This piece began as a drawing. Lines on a screen. Nothing fancy—until those lines were extruded, shaped, and turned into something real. That moment never gets old.

I create jewelry by turning drawings into dimensional forms, and I share the how through tutorials because creation shouldn’t be a mystery reserved for a few. If you can imagine it, you can learn to build it.

My journey started in OpenSim, creating virtual jewelry people could wear in-world before ever buying it in real life. That experiment turned into something bigger: a virtual jewelry store that’s open 24/7, showcasing years of designs, iterations, failures, breakthroughs, and finished pieces. It’s a living archive of creative growth.

Here’s the truth:
There is nothing quite like seeing an idea move from your mind, to a sketch, to a finished object you can hold—or wear. That spark when it finally clicks? That’s the reward.

So for 2026, my message to the community is simple:

Learn something new

Make something with your hands (digital or physical—both count)

Share what you learn

Inspire the next creator behind you

You don’t need permission to create. You just need curiosity and the willingness to try.

About Rigged Jewelry in My Shop

Some visitors have asked about resizing or rigging jewelry to fit their avatars. Here’s how it works:

Rings: My rings are rigged for a standard female hand shape. Often they will also fit men’s avatars, but for a perfect fit I would need to rig the ring to that exact avatar’s mesh. That requires uploading their full avatar to Blender, which most people understandably don’t want to (or don’t know how to) do. Because of the time and complexity involved, I don’t offer custom rigging.

Necklaces & Other Jewelry: Rigging necklaces to avatars isn’t practical. They tend to move in unrealistic ways, “flopping” around the body. Static or unrigged versions usually look better in-world.

Why I Don’t Offer Rigging Services: Every avatar body and hand mesh is different, and keeping up with all of them would be impossible. Rigging each piece individually takes significant time and effort.
