I have a sponsor who will cover the cost of the stream and will do the broadcast of the soundscape from her computer. However, I'm researching the possibility that the broadcasting can be done from my Google Drive account. Anyone know anything about that? The file will be about 13,130 kb.

1. Ideally, I would store the music on the streaming service server and have the song set up to repeat.
2. Alternatively, I would use Mixx to make a live broadcasting connection to a streaming service.
Options for getting a streaming service.

4. Or I rent the service, with the $ help from anyone who wants to contribute to the exhibit.

I know this is already resolved, which is awesome, but just fyi to anyone following: for the music streams on my region I use zeno.fm. It isn't ideal but with a free account you can auto-dj up to 200 tracks of up to 500 mb each (or was it 300? whatever, it's more than adequate for a 3 hour mp3). However, it's only 128kbps. You can get better sound quality with a paid account but it isn't cheap at all. Anyway, 128k has worked for me so far, just for radio stations.

That music is exceedingly strange, and not for everyone. And you listened to it all! Yikes! Glad you liked it. It was a sample selection of music for the artwork I imagined Cherry might be doing. When I saw what the project was actually becoming, I wrote the neo-classical, ethnic-fusion, art-rock soundscape.

I've gotten a few messages in response to this post. A reliable service has been recommended that allows for 50 concurrent listeners with streaming up to 192 kbps for $1.33 US for a month. And I've had an offer to pay for that. So that takes care of #4 on my list. However, I would need to make a live broadcasting connection to a streaming service, 24/7 for 3 months. It would be more reliable to have the music uploaded to the server instead. That means paying for storage space on the server.
I'll update this comment once I have time to convert the song from .wav to mp3 VBR, and see what the size of the file will be. I should add that the possibility of using VLC to stream has been suggested. However, I don't have the bandwidth for that. Also, the set-up requires the udp protocol, which would dangerously expose my computer to harm.

@Xinashi I have a script that I would be happy to share with you that will play full songs as long as you break up the song into 59-second parts and number them 1 - whatever. There is no limit to the song size but the range may be limited and they need to be in wav format / 44100 hz / 16 bit, which I do with Audacity. If you visit Luxor, I have a few set up: at the main landing, the main pyramid, the meditation temple, the hypergates, the Menkaure temple, and the newer temple of light. These are not streams, The visitor merely needs to have sound on to hear it

Thanks for your suggestions. We will need a stream to simply and reliably make the music available over the 2x2 region. Once I have the main soundscape done, I'll be doing what you suggest at certain specific sites on the region, just like you have done on Luxor. Cherry has the script to do that, and I have Audacity. What I don't have yet is the music to use at that areas yet.

I have thought about doing this rather than a stream. I experimented with media and connected to Nico's site for the music and that worked, but looping it, I am not so sure about. The exhibit is on a 2x2 region connected to the gallery region, so it is large. One possibility to counter the range is possibly putting out multiples maybe? Your solution sounds like a very good option and something I would like to experiment with. Thank you.

I was introduced to a guy the other day who is supposed to help me set up streaming for the gallery/grid. Hopefully soon. I got a Shoutcast account and I downloaded Butt, and I am confused about how to make it all work. That is what I need help with, making sense of it all. I am trying Nico. This exhibit opens on Sept 29 and will be up for three months.

You can make a playlist in VLC and stream it on loop or shuffle. Instructions are on the osgrid wiki. No need for a shoutcast/icecast server. Providing you can open the required ports and firewall stuff.

Thanks for the link. I don't have the bandwidth to have my own stream. Plus the set-up requires both tcp and udp protocols. Having an inbound udp port always open would make it possible for someone to mess with my computer.

A solution could be https://www.azuracast.com/ or maybe a self-hosted Shoutcast server with VLC Media player through "BUTT" to the server with your audio file playing on a loop

This is a beautiful introspective song. It explores the delicate balance between reality and dream. This looks to be a very interesting project. Cherry Manga is phenomenal I love to see this.

Thanks for your kind comments. Unfortunately, the preview of the song is messed up. The song is too long for the site to handle, and stops abruptly, instead of fading out as composed, But you can hear most of the piece.

Nico you are brilliant, I had no idea you created music. I would love you to share more of your music, maybe have a group where we could go and play the streams. I wear headphones to keep me focused, I listen to music all day. Your music is healing, thank you.
