I love Wolf Territories! I have four 4x4 varregions and have called WTG my home for the last 2 years. My regions are on the map just to the right of center. My regions were on the edge of the grid back then, now I'm surrounded lol. It's important to note btw that each of the small squares on the map is a 4x4 (16 single regions).

I'm so glad Wolf Territories uses redundant servers. Servers can be swapped and replaced on the fly so that we never go down for any reason

In fact we just upgraded a regions server from a ryzen 5 to a ryzen 9 server - the only disruption was the restarting of regions, we have a system where when the region is moved, the users get a notice, then it starts on the new server. To do database server upgrades for instance we just add the new server to the cluster. Our assets are stored on Cloudflare R2 cloud storage which gives us about 10.2 petabytes of available space over masses of servers. Although we use a custom asset service. We also use argo cloud routing that basically routes some of the traffic from the clients through a local infrastructure node, meaning a fast and safer way of getting to our grid, wherever you are in the world.

We still take backups but they are like a last resort. We'd have to have a complete meltdown at the data centre and even then our backups are in Holland, with the servers are in Germany.

Our region servers are completely redundant, one failed a few months ago, we just get a new server from the datacentre and add it to our proxmox cluster and then fire up the server and run one script to build it from an lxc container. The same for all of our services, multiple copies on multiple servers - even our robust servers we have 40 (30 live and 10 on standby) running on different servers.

It is designed to support hundreds of thousands of users being completely expandable just by adding more resources as needed.

@lone wolf Just so that everyone is aware, how often do hackers attempt to get into Wolf Grid servers and how do you handle it?
liked(2)
Okay so its basically 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We use a number of techniques including honeypot servers to gather hackers data and block them dynamically. Plus we are using cloudflare services to bock ddos attacks where we can.

It just doesn't stop.

Different cost management models Luna. But even with a literal fortune you can't guarantee 100% of uptime. Think in all the outages Google has had for example.
That being said, this was planned and foretold with a week of anticipation, that's a good thing!

@Luna: Just to clarify the differences. OsGrid SIMS you can get easy for free and they lives from donations. Wolf earns from rentals.

I've been a paying tenant on Wolf Grid for 2 years and happy to do so. There are tools and perks that are simply not anywhere else and we have no downtime, planned or otherwise

I'm still funding this grid in fact it just about breaks even.

True, but I'll take the redundant tech any day. That puts WTG much closer in terms of reliability to SL... or maybe surpassing SL IMV! BTW Wolf also takes donations. I've donated some of my hard earned RL USD a few times already since I joined WTG about ten months ago. :)

Thanks for the donations it's really appreciated.

...rentals AND donations ... sure that he can effort redundant systems. ;-)

TBH You can spend a fortune on servers and build a terrible system. It's not about the money. I have autism and I just got obsessed with seeing what was possible with an enterprise infrastructure.

it's not all me though - the guys at OpenSim NGC have been amazing. There's so many who have helped contribute. Especially the community that has grown out of this!

That wasn't against you Wolf. I just wanted to make it clear, after OsGrid is blasphemed, that they live from donations. Of course, good and even more so redundant hardware also costs "some" money.

The monetary transactions are going through but the customer is not receiving the merchandise. I'm manually delivering those items currently as soon as I see a transaction. If they end up with more than one that's okay since everything I sell is copy. Cash out requests for Gloebits are throwing an error message and not initiating. If cashouts are gone then Gloebits are a dead currency. If that continues, then the Kitely Market is where all my new items will go. I'll keep small local stores open using the local currencies but those typically cannot pay for themselves.

We scheduled this year in order to avoid conflict with any major events we were aware of, but even then there is always something being added. We specifically avoided clashing with OSGrid's birthday festival this summer, HIE in October, and the OSCC Conference later in the Fall. We only became aware of OSGrid's auction for late September after we had already published our schedule.

I love the filigree work
like(2)
Thank you it is little circles with a line "curve" woven through the circles. Basic shapes and then modifying the curve to weave throughout. I use Rhino so creating is much quicker for me than Blender. I am still learning my way in blender. I would love for you to do a tutorial on your texture work that is where I need help.

Love your work Marianna and it is practically the only jewelry I wear. I second the motion for Luna to give a texturing class. I know that will be a lot of work to pull it together and I am willing to help in any way possible to make it happen. It would be an honor to learn from you, my friend. Marianna probably has just the place for us to meet up. I hope you will consider it Luna. I bet some other folks would be interested too.

Thank you Star, while meeting up would be nice it would be better if the tutorial is published either at my website or here at OSW as an article so people in the future can see it too. I have a few how-to docs about it does require lots of planning for the doc to be concise. I work with Blender with models and such and did learn tips on texturing. My problem has always been in marking the seams with jewelry it is hard. So when I began in SL you will see that jewelry was texture mapped, when I came to OpenSim I got a bit lazy about it because even though I went through all of the steps to map it correctly the final result didn't look much different until you see Fred Beckhusen's gold wow. Luna too creates beautiful gold. I know that with the specular maps, it helps with shine but it is the Lighting that makes it look meh but with the new PBR technology it will be exciting to see gold with PBR enabled.

https://gyazo.com/fc2c6725016060fbc03e1c633472a2ea This shows how I do the curves I did this quickly so they are a bit thick, RhinoGold is much quicker and easier for me to work in. I can do curves and extrude in Blender too but it is much easier in RhinoGold https://youtu.be/gAWkKImmjzM This video shows how I begin creating the ring, this is a bit different ring but is the same idea. When I get my curves built I then polar array them around the band.

Lone is autistic, which is not news since he has frequently apologized for it in his videos, quite unnecessarily in my opinion, since he should be proud of who he is. While it may seem to you that this is just a discussion about disagreements, those with autism view any conflict as aggressive and threatening and their brain reacts as if they are in a life-threatening situation. This gives them 3 choices: freeze, fight, or flee. Because of your actions here, Lone decided to leave Opensimworld after having a private meltdown. While the grid has had its challenges over the last several weeks, he has diligently responded and acted on every issue I raised, including teleports. This is a large grid and it's running much better due to his exhaustive efforts. I am very happy to continue to call Wolf territories Grid my home, while you should be ashamed of your actions. This should have remained a private issue. That's how I handled it.

you answer yourself because you deserve answer....

The fact that lone is autistic, in the videos I've seen I haven't heard the mention of it, this I regret in part.

I am sorry in part because anyway I responded politely in the comments from as you can read, still complimenting him on his grid but pointing out in the comments to his post that something is not working. I was honest and kind.

his autistic state does not give him the right anyway to make money on poor people or those who believe they have purchased an IMMENSIVE package, the best on the Opensimulator platform, this is called FRAUD or TRUFFLE.

as I told him, it only takes 10 gullible people, who pay that high dollar amount to get $500--if you can get to 20 you have cashed in $1000 selling NOTHING.

And once people are in there, then they will have a hard time getting their work out.

Because you know very well, and you know it because in the group you said it publicly inside the wolf grid, that teleports were not working. but not only teleports, the problems in the wolf territories are also others, and people have to know what they are paying, if I comment on one of his posts as he does with others, I don't see anything wrong with it.
It is invevce fair to warn the community, and maybe make it clear that you are complicit in it with the speech you made. Do you remember well how many times you complained, or should we share some of your statements from the group chat? (so not private but read by other users)

As you can read, my two comments are polite, snza offend him (unlike what you do with me now), but the price is not worth what he offers.

and those who should be ashamed are you and people like you who incite and support these attitudes by still encouraging them, so maybe to reach in defiance of other honest platforms, 30 people paying for NOTHING by making $1,500 a month for a person who is selling something non-functional for those amounts demanded, and all this, autism or no autism, is the truly shameful thing! you support something that is technically overvalued, and I repeat it is right to make it clear or express the thought, by hiding it instead you are complicit, you have done the same for other grids by warning publicly that that grid is dangerous to invest money, why should Lone be exempt from these warnings?

if it worked like SL, or like really well structured grids, then I would understand, but here you are selling for better what is nothing better!

if you lovingly do this, just because you are autistic, at least don't advertise it as the best, because you are complicit in shameful harm true people who don't fully understand the true technical value of a platform.

so lunaria, shame on you and all those who commented like you!

if the post is not in private it is as i have already explained, because mr. lone, he still commented publicly others and because in my comments there are technical notes that you know well to be true, that you deny by taken part and that everyone can observe (many have in fact confirmed), and it serves to make people understand that that 50$ is money wasted, you are not in second life there, you are in a place below average and overvalued that makes you pay gold for something that gold is not, and you are complicit in that, SHAME ON YOU!

I have empathy for persons with disabilities but did Lone have empathy when he trashed my forum saying it wasn't secure, I have Multiple Sclerosis and am Autistic too. You all should be ashamed of yourselves too! You for one Luna find free creations and then want to sell them in a free and opensource community, wanting everyone to praise you as a fabulous content creator. We all have to be ashamed of ourselves for being honest? Lone wasn't being honest when he commented here that my Forum wasn't secure. That was an attack because it was untrue. What we are saying here isn't an attack it is facts. Since you all already think of me as Mad I could give a shit.

First, I don't think negatively of anyone, especially you, since I've always admired your work. Secondly, I don't think my work is fabulous since I have a lot of room for improvement. Lastly, 95% or more of what I make is prim-built or uses mesh components I create in blender. Being in Opensim, you and I both can do whatever we like with our own stuff. The only mesh I outsource and sometimes sell are statues, of which many are free but some I pay for. I am not a sculptor so I look for quality scan files of real world sculptures to use. The ones I use all come with a commercial license that allows me to sell them as long as I attribute the creator - I never claim to be the original creator for these. I sell these on the Kitely Market so that anyone in Opensim can buy and export them to their own grid, with Dreamgrids being some of my largest patrons. As you can see in this listing (https://www.kitely.com/market/product/70275470/Egyptian-So...), I not only provide the creator's name and license, but also provide the link where people can go get their own copy for free without buying mine. They would still of course have to run their copy through a 3d modeling program to be able to upload it into Opensim.

I appreciate that you clarify, and that you care to correct me. In your early days it was all the free statues being sold, I had these same statues. Do I think you should be compensated for that? I understand that you do apply nicer textures when you find the statues and your time is valuable. Putting a price on your time is your call. I spend hours creating and giving it freely and that is my decision on my time. I do think you create beautifully and have commented on your textures and your work. What offends me is saying we don't care about Lone's disability was hurtful because I have promoted both you and Lone.
