The advantage there is to get also many other contacts in whole fediverse. Especially Nerds. open source, decentralized and 90s charme :-) Easy to use. It works. So why now other platform?

Interesting microblogging social network. But I'm even more interested in how decentralized it is. I've used many different similar platforms that positioned themselves as decentralized, but in reality it was just an attractive slogan, and there was censorship and no freedom of speech and expression.

Bluesky is an all-out clone of Twitter from 10 years ago, founded by former Twitter devs and running on venture capital.
It isn't decentralised. 99.999% of the ATmosphere are bsky.social, and what's left relies on bsky.social, too. It just claims to be decentralised to appease the EU, and probably also because the creators thought "decentralised" may become the new hot shit in the wake of Mastodon's success. You know, "decentralised" is the new "AI" is the new "metaverse" is the new "blockchain" is the new "cloud" is the new...

Have a look at the Fediverse and things like Mastodon, Friendica, Diaspora ... All are *really* decentralized. Which does not mean there is no moderation.

Hear, hear. I've been on Hubzilla since long before the big Twitter migrations, I've even got a few channels on (streams) going. And I've got connections all over the Fediverse which goes to show that it's all pretty much connected with one another.

Other OpenSim users who are actually at least somewhat active in the Fediverse include Mal Burns, Thirza Ember, Cheryl Furse, Lone Wolf and a slowly increasing number of Francophone users.
diaspora* is an exception. It still refuses to adopt any other protocol than its own, so within the Fediverse, only Friendica, Hubzilla and Socialhome connect to it. Also, it's withering away rather quickly. Around December 29th, multiple major pods shut down, and according to one stats site, diaspora* lost over half of its users within three days. On Saturday, diasp.org, one of the biggest pods, will be closed.
