I don't understand people. Someone gets a region for free so they can build a shop for themselves. Then they start creating alts to manipulate the statistics and generate fake visitors for themselves. When I point out the problem to them, they pretend not to understand what I'm telling them.

Nothing against alts per se. If you only log them in when you need them.
But then you look at a sim entry, you see in the graph that the sim has come online recently, and immediately, four avatars have entered the sim. And they must have been there ever since because for as long as the sim has been online, there have always been at least four avatars present. Even before the sim went offline for maintenance or whatever, there have been at least four avatars on that sim constantly until the moment it shut down.
Nobody can tell me that this is regular visitor traffic. Especially not if you visit the sim repeatedly, and it's always the same avatars present. This looks more like four instances of the Radegast text viewer running on the machine that's also the region server, being automatically launched by a script right after the sim came online.
The most blatant case that I've experienced so far: I was on a beach sim with the landing point on a wooden pier. There were constantly four avatars present. After I had landed there, I quickly discovered them: Four bog-standard Ruths, even with running numbers from 1 to 4 in their names, stacked on top of each other on the seafloor right below the landing-point, right below me. And that wasn't even a shopping sim.
A few sim owners try to be smart and park avatars from other grids on their sim. Like, they take the extra effort upon them and teleport them in from other grids so they look like regular visitors. It's just weird that these avatars are in places where regular visitors won't go, and that you can visit the sim ten times in two or three months, and it's always the self-same avatars in the self-same places.

Basically, I don't have a problem with alts in general when they serve some meaningful purpose. For example, if someone is roleplaying and creates a character for a specific roleplay. My problem is when someone creates alts specifically to deliberately manipulate visitor statistics (including on this website) and create a false impression of popularity, in an attempt to attract other users as well.
