art is life - life is art

Hello Hella,

We are so happy to have you join our community of artists at the Art Factory. Your images are hauntingly beautiful. What is the inspiration for your art?

“About my inspiration it's about the feeling in a present situation, always in the NOW, we can call this "états d'âmes" in French, "states of mind" in English ? “

Your art is a visual representation of current feelings and moods? That is so interesting. Do you have other galleries or exhibits in OpenSim or in Second Life?

“For my art in physical life, it's another route that I don't mix with virtual worlds.
For the photos, which relate only to life in SL and Opensim, I only exhibit on Flickr and in Opensim. Many captures, come from the world of SL and since 6 months, taken in Opensim.”

I have followed your Flickr for a long time now and look forward to seeing your posts. Hella, what do you enjoy about your art inworld?

“Art changes my frequency and makes my life a dream. In the virtual world as in life, practicing an art is a pure expression of oneself and it feels good to do good :)”

Ernest and I are overjoyed to have you join the Art Factory community. Would you tell our readers how you got involved in the project?

“Art Factory is the first place I visited that challenged me, I took some pictures from elsewhere that I put on Flickr, months ago. The Thirza Safari Tour allowed me to rediscover the Art Factory region and to meet Ellen and Ernest "in person", I had had some contact with Ellen on Opensimworld, I was happy to meet Ellen and Ernest :)”

Thank you for taking the time for this interview, Hella. And welcome to the Art Factory community!

A carful of too lazy to work thieves tried to sneak into my home late Christmas night. They found out real quick amputee does not always=helpless. An old grey maned wolf with a missing leg still has fangs... heh. Rebelworld is running, but PC still has issues from the most recent breakin during my last hospitalization. Apologies if you experience any lag, or brain hiccups. Happy New Year ya'll, :) hugs n high 5's
ATTENTION: Needful Things is currently being revised!

Planned are:
- Reduction of (rezzed) meshes & scripts
- Extension of the store buildings by 2 floors
- Revision of the interiors

Most freebies (even the older ones, e.g. clothing for standard avatars, Selea Core Stuff, etc.) will remain. The location of the stores will also remain largely the same, only the buildings itselves will be redeveloped.

The rebuild is a longer-term project (120 houses to modify!), so Needful Things will remain open to visitors. It is expressly warned against construction lag and falling prims during this time ;)

Well, from time to time you just need a lamp that goes with almost everything. Basic lamps called the "Daily" lamps, they are available in the main shop building. The textures are included so they can be customized and there's also a menu script which includes the option of having them go on and off automatically with the sim day cycle....but, hey, if you want, go ahead, leave the lights on.
Did you know?

I ran out of space!

I remember when I decided to use the old triangular building for my shop I thought "How in the world will I fill this monster?" Welp, by making stuff for years! That's how.

So, I decided to move some stuff to the demo rezzers, all my vehicles. That would free some space. I made an hangar for it, big enough to have all the vehicles inside and have some spare room for future ones too!

Then I thought "I would like it to have doors, gigantic gates because all the hangars I've saw so far don't have any doors"; I made a 4 pane sliding doors that took me for ever to script to make it work regardless if you resize or reposition the whole building.

Then I decided to add a small door too, for when you want to enter and not open the whole thing, but also I wanted to have the access restricted if needed: for the owner, the group or just open to everyone, done! it only took the life of the last 3 neurones I had yay!

Add some automatic lightning spent 4 days baking textures and let's go, I have an hangar now.

Finally I thought "Hey, this looks pretty, I need to share it!" , so...

New Release: Arcadia's Hangar.

It has all what I said above so there's no much description I can add here LOL, that's what happens when I write something before my coffee.

Happy Monday!
New release: Arcadia's Moon Lamp

I made these fantasy lamps to replace the prim ones at my shop, originally made of prims they were 14 prim monsters... each!

But that belongs to the past, the new moon lamp is just one prim per unit.

This carefully crafted lamp features a lot of metal work curated in it's normal maps so ALM enabled is recommended to appreciate it better (preferences, tab Graphics, click on Advanced Lighting Model).

It features a reflector in the shape of a moon, convex mirrors to spread a very warm light that will decorate your setup. It comes in two version, a floor one and a ceiling one, both works with a master/slave system, so you need one script to control all the linked lamps, please read the manual to learn how to set them up.

Happy Saturday!
The Art Factory is about art and artists. At The Art Factory, we display art; we appreciate art; we learn about art; and, we promote art. We have over a dozen galleries dedicated to in-world artists, where they show their innovative creations. As such, we are continuing our feature - Meet the Artist. This week, we interviewed Antonia Ling, owner of Antonia Ling Gallery, Inspired By Gallery, Metropolis Poster Shop, and a 2001 themed gallery.

Antonia, tell us about yourself and your art.
“It's not easy to talk about myself. What have I to say about my person? Not much... really. I like photography and I like to photograph. I love to photograph old churches when I'm in Denmark. Or ships in the harbor... often details. Not the big ones, I prefer little old boats of the local fishermen. I like to photograph old cars and colorful flowers. I love art from the 1920s to today, I love a lot of the german BAUHAUS and their Master like Kandinsky, Alberts or Lazlo Moholy-Nagy.”

What are you doing currently?
“I try to photograph a bit. At the moment I deal with cyanotype. It fascinates me...”

What is your inspiration for art in world?
“I do what I do because I like to do it. When one in a million likes it... I'm happy.”

Thank you so much for your interview, Ms. Ling. We love your ongoing contributions to The Factory.
The Art Factory is about art and artists. At The Art Factory, we display art; we appreciate art; we learn about art; and, we promote art. We have over a dozen galleries dedicated to in-world artists, where they show their innovative creations. As such, we are beginning a feature called Meet the Artist.

This week we want to introduce to you, the very talented Nice Minik.

Ms. Minik, can you tell us a bit about yourself and your art?
My interest for VL-Photography started back in InworldZ with some photos of dancing Avis.
In 2017 the "Nice Minik" on OSG was created to try out "hypergriding" and to build a photo-studio with backdrops and "flat" lighting for Avi photo sessions.A visit of Ellen and Ernest in my first little gallery changed my virtual life.
Since that day I explored the photo-features of Firestrom and tried a lot of light-effects to make my inworld-photos more interesting. It comes in handy to be a prim builder (for certain backgrounds) and I also learned to create poses in the meantime.

And what are you doing artistically now?
Nowadays I can display model-sessions and themed series at "the Art Factory". And I was able to create some issues of the Stark Magazine.

So, what's the motivation behind your work?
Some of my work just tries to show beauty. Some may be a bit provocative. But I always try to find the mood, lighting and angle to take photos, that "tell a story". And sometimes I can even achieve that goal.
One thing stayed consistently through my development as an inworld-photographer: what you see is what I saw. That means, that I never do after-works on my photos.

What do you enjoy most about creating art in virtual worlds?
Besides that, I very much like to show virtual life in a way, that makes viewers enjoy what I enjoyed or maybe get an impulse to think about certain aspects.

Thank you for the interview, Ms. Minik!

Please stop by The Art Factory Reloaded and check out Nice Minik's art! It won't disappoint!
