"HAL 9000
The first thing to comprehend about HAL 9000, this artwork, is that it isn’t a piece of “fan art”: an attempt to exactly replicate the Discovery One, or any other parts of Kubrick’s movie, to pay a fawning tribute to the original. This is an exploration of, and an annotation on, that original work. The vessel Discovery One hangs here in the sky as a shell. Its interior is a journey through the psychological and philosophical conundrums posed by HAL, Dave, the monolith and their situation."
