Fianna Rua

It's World Puffin Day and Fianna Rua has some kick ass Puffins. There are free to copy/buy for 0 birds on the South West side of the lighthouse on the rocks. There are some others that are simply to be admired:)

There is a wooden Puffin statue in the Old Bridge Inn up on the shelf that's also available. And these fun Punk Puffin tshirts in the clothing shop at the corner of Merchant and Mermaid's Lane. The Puffin graphic on the shirt comes Pixel Labs on Pixabay. The shirts are for Classic Avatars but textures are included for BOM users.

Puffins are charasmatic birds; sometimes nicknamed the clowns of the sea. While globally they're not classified as endangered they are vulnerable to extinction they suffer declining populations due to climate change and food shortages related to overfishing. It should be noted that Eurpean Puffins are listed as endangered. Pollution, oil spills, hunting and invasive predators are all factors in this.

Love Puffins today:)

NightshadeCeres: the thing is: i wanna have all your shirts in RL, not only in pixels? 3 hours ago
Vegan Plant Based Ulster Fry:)

With tofu scramble, a plant based sausage patty and tempeh bacon instead of the meats.

I also stuck the vegan and carnivore at the same table because those are always great conversations:)

At Doyle's.

Tonia: Soil is made up of dead animals etc and Plants feed off. I myself is an Omnivore! 11 days ago
The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe has both Ukrainian and Irish Foods. Ireland has taken in over 112,000 Ukrainian refugees since the invasion and war with Russia began. Some of the refugees have gone other places but many have stayed, making Ukrainian people and culture a signifigant part of Irish culture now too. The bakery on Fianna Rua is owned by 2 sisters from the Ukraine. You will find Paska - Ukrainian Easter bread as well as some traditional painted eggs. And the bakery of course also has local Irish treats. Immediately under the gnome cookies you can see on top of the counter are Fifteens.

"Fifteens are a popular, no-bake Northern Irish traybake named for their core ingredients: 15 digestive biscuits, 15 marshmallows, 15 glacé cherries, and sweetened condensed milk. This sweet, sticky, and chewy treat is rolled in coconut, chilled, and sliced. They are easy to prepare, perfect for tea, and often served as a nostalgic treat."

On the right in that same section you can see Irish Cream Horns.

"Irish cream horns are a classic pastry made from flaky puff pastry wrapped around a cone-shaped mold, baked until golden, and filled with whipped cream or pastry cream. They are often dusted with powdered sugar, offering a light, crunchy texture paired with a soft, sweet filling."

This batch doesn't have powdered sugar but I assure you they are still delicious:) And all are free to copy/buy for 0:)

SheaButter: Oh yummy! Cute little fellas. 11 days ago
Ulster Fry

"An Ulster fry is a traditional Northern Irish breakfast, often served all day, featuring fried bacon, sausages, eggs, black/white pudding, tomatoes, and mushrooms. Key, defining elements that distinguish it from a full English breakfast are the inclusion of soda bread and potato farls (potato bread) fried until crisp."

There is some debate about the inclusion of baked beans. Traditionalists say no but modern Ulster Fry plates have them and I like them so I included them. There's an attribution notecard in the contents and this beautiful plate can be found in Doyle's Coffee House (it used to be a pub in pervious incarnations of the build but we have a fair few pubs:)

Free to copy/buy for 0.

We also have some lovely scones with clotted cream and black current jam and fresh hot cross buns with whipped butter which some folks enjoy for the Easter week and weekend:)

NightshadeCeres: what is black-and-white pudding? (me looks interested even if not sure if i could eat everything as a part-time vegetarian.) 13 days ago
It's the International Day of the Seal -raising awareness about conservation and preserving habitats for these glorious animal friends. This is the Bagel Seal - probably the best find on Sketchfab to date by a creator named Jerry Bot. And thank you to Cherry Manga for advising me when I had issues with this upload and leading the path to success. I couldn't take his bagels away. He's worked so hard to balance the full dozen. The Bagel Seal can bring joy to your region too. He's at the back door of the Sunflower Bakery & Cafe by the fishing docks doing tricks for Serhiy. (Free to copy/buy for 0 or you can also find him on Sketchfab here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/bagel-seal-01ce23ef2f7f452...
I've been setting up this docks area with fishing boats I found on Sketchfab. I also found some fish to create a little local market vibe. Anyways...if anyone else could benefit from some of these things they're mostly (a few things were not full perm finds) free to copy/buy for 0 on Fianna Rua. You will land on a smaller island and you need to take the sign teleporter on the dock there to get to the bigger one...or fly. Mind my mess as I'm still working on so many parts of this and making decisions. But it's starting to become more cohesive:)

John Sheppard: Good to see you creating! Or re-creating as the case may be. Looks interesting. I also have Irish heritage. 26 days ago

Some more work in progress with a Chemist and a Post Office. Not nearly done. Are we ever done? LOL

Suzi_Avonside: Nice to see the Celtic world expanding in Opensim! Erin go bragh! (And of course, it goes without saying, Cymru am byth!) 1 month ago

Happy Irish Heritage Month:)
