I don't get inworld as often as I used to, but it's still fun to visit different sims. Glad to see that there are still active groups and new regions coming online.
Just to play Devil's Advocate, what would stop someone from rezzing the object, stopping all scripts, changing permissions, and copying the script text? Delete the detect-remove-ban routine, rinse, and repeat? Or did I miss something here?
Nothing is stopping anyone from doing anything. There's no way to be able to fully prevent the script from being viewed in OpenSim. This merely prevents your average user from doing so, thus making the act of viewing the script more involved and cumbersome. Add in obfuscation and minification and you've successfully required someone to do something other than forcing permissives in a few clicks.
This isn't even remotely cumbersome. It's literally three steps that most people learn to do within the first month in Opensim.
I get your frustration, but if God mode is so upsetting, hypergrid-connected regions are probably not the place to be. It seems that staying in SL or on an isolated grid would be much easier on the blood pressure.
I didn't know that... maybe that's not something to say too loudly...
Anyway, in computers it seems to be VERY hard to prevent hacking, you can always find someone who knows enough to break your defenses
