Thanks to the AMAZING Firestorm and OPENSIM NGC team (and a bit of work from us!) our whole grid is now running with PBR textures and terrains. IN fact this image doesn't use PBR materials, just the standard texturing. Wow.

Let me tell you about the Genesis Roleplay Grid - This grid was originally started by my daughter, Metal Tango, while I was on another grid with a group of friends. Things went south on that grid for reasons that I do not need to explain so my daughter extended a welcome to my friends to join us on Genesis Roleplay Grid with the understanding that each could have a 1 - 4x4 region with no rent to pay but donations if they could afford it. Everyone has worked very hard to develop this grid and make it a success and build up a good reputation in the virtual community. Seventy five percent of our membership on the grid are Role players and we have fun when we get together, 95% of the regions are developed either for role play or personal use with a scattered few for other reasons because people like to build their dream region. It is a well organized, well run grid with an amazing tech whom we adore and those who were there with us from the ground floor up, working, striving and struggling to make it a success have donated financially as well, particularly Metal Tango. We have an amazing mall with incredible builds and most of the regions on the grid are regions that I personally have developed, some with a little help from other members. If you see a region under my profile, rest assured I built and developed it. But....no bragging, because I have been to other grids and some of them are positively amazingly gorgeous and well done and our Virtual Community is about encouraging one another and working together and supporting each other in our endeavors. Genesis Roleplay Grid isn't about me, it's about every single person on that grid for they are all precious and very talented in their own right, whether creative writing, building, decorating, organizing, everyone has a role to play in making the grid a success. So to our members I say THANK YOU! To my Daughter who has shouldered the burden for these few years, even while struggling through nursing school, I say THANK YOU! Tosha, Nomad, Doctor Dave and I were invited as guests on Inworld Review today. We were talking about our Pride event last Friday, and various places to see on our grid. We had some technical issues with voice, but it was fun. :)

In case you didn't know: Firestorm 7.1.9 has been released yesterday. It's the first release that supports PBR (Physically-Based Rendering).

On the one hand, this means that the Advanced Lighting Model is now permanently on. You can't turn it off again.

On the other hand, Firestorm supports multi-threading now. Firestorm 6 and earlier only ever used one CPU thread. Firestorm 7 can use all of them.

So all fearmongering that you'll need a high-end gaming rig for Firestorm 7 is just that, fearmongering. Unless you've got an absolute toaster that was already built as an absolute toaster, and that has never been powerful enough for virtual worlds, unless you have to turn everything off from transparent water to shaders to light sources, chances are Firestorm 7 will actually be faster than Firestorm 6.

To give you an example: I have a Ryzen 5 3600X, 16GB RAM and a Radeon RX590 graphics card with 8GB VRAM. This is nowhere near high-end.

What Firestorm 6 renders with 20-30fps with ambient occlusion and shadows off, Firestorm 7 may render with 50+fps with ambient occlusion and shadows on.

This build is "YUGE" as they say! Created for a mall type shop to be used as such, this giant shop boasts latticework entrance and doorways, fancy arched windows, brick exterior, decorative concrete pillars, and three fancy grillwork (teleporter) elevators. It's a unique blend of old and modern for a unique touch to any region. You can find it next to near "Fall's For You" beside "Skywind Designs" which are both by "Cosplay Corner". Stop in and check it out and while you're at it, be sure to visit our collection of Selea Core (brought to us by Star Ravenhurst) most of which can now be found on display in its new location at the mall.
