Please note, my comments are not intended to be derogatory to any one person/group of people.
Elias, these are the facts.
I came to OS a few years back from another platform (not SL) only knowing that I was now on a private grid and the program/software was based on an older version of SL (using object collada files). From the previous program ... we had our own worlds and we were used to paying $80+ US for a model set and at least $20+ for a specially created model when I requested them, (I can do basic modeling).
I don't want to hurt your feelings but just being associated with OS, you are already an outcast and an undesirable by the modelers and some folks in SL. I bought my Lindens, ordered models, received them and then could not bring them back to our grid here. When I explained the situation to the modelers in SL, (gave them past references of modelers who I had paid over the years thousands of dollars, etc.), they ignored me and would not refund my money. I offered to pay extra to the modelers if they would deliver them to our grid and basically their response was no response ... they blew me off. So basically, I am out money and no models in OS.
In good faith, we have supported the Kitely market as much as possible but I refuse to purchase some models that are being sold which were free on Turbosquid a few years back or that I can model myself. I have communicated with a few modelers selling on Kitely from SL and they did bring items in for me to purchase on Kitely.
Stop worrying about what others do and calling folks names when you only know the circumstances that apply to you. If SL didn't treat us like stepchildren the modelers would be sitting on a cash pile. All of us should now focus on supporting OS. Where we can, we donate money to venues, entertainers, and yes, the folks that arrange all those things so that I can HG and go visit them all and see/borrow all the goodies. You are fighting a losing battle when you are asking most people to hand over most of their inventory.
So if you so desire to "uplift" all of us folks who might have an untraceable object in our inventories (which probably pertains to every grid and most folks), you can work on the positive aspects.
Make contact with all the good modelers and list those who wish to model special models for financial compensation.
Contact the modelers in SL and promote Kitely so we can have more choices. Although, Kitely is now getting some new names and models ... it is growing!
And Opensimworld website folks ... could you please make readily available the contact information for donations to the developers of OS. Before the updated website I could easily find the information, now who knows where it is.
Let us worry about promoting OS and "all" the freedoms that come with it. Arguing and isolating groups/grids of folks, is not the answer to moving forward.
