Now this is "sharing is caring". This is what we need to see, from the things we do, as individuals, creating and having fun.

Ya, it is nice. It was the foundation of my Show and Share Fashion Event. I'll have to start them up again.

There not selling their items. They are giving their items for free. As in no sale, no money exchange.

Doesn't change the fact that fetching all the work takes a lot of time. Then the unauthorized offering of things is the bottom drawer.

We should not offer things that we have not been authorized to offer by the person who is offering things they have not been authorized to offer? I suppose we can make that argument.

Every person who gets free clothes are sharing them, with others. Just like trees, flowers, houses, etc... I built some wall art, was making on my region (is not a shop nor is it registered with OS.) Was shopping at another store and seen it with a group of furniture. Was surprised to see it. But at the same time was honored to see it used among the decor. It had taken me hours to build from prim.
Isn't this why we set to copy, so we can all share. These people, who have shops, are they not wanting others to do different looks, with mixing and matching. I don't know maybe am wrong. But "Sharing is Caring".

I fully agree with you. I offer enough myself. BUT if it is blocked or not transfer things, there should be respect to use them only as private.

The actual goal of "Sharing is Caring" was to conceal who got all those copybotted things into OpenSim. It would have been hard to tell who was actually behind all that if those things could be found in 500 freebie shops on 200 grids with 300 different creator tags. Each creator who had become a victim of copybotting, together with Linden Lab, would have had to DMCA each one of them, one by one, in many cases successlessly because the particular grid would have been hosted in a country where DMCA complaints don't work. Not to mention that, back in those days, the copybotters weren't the same persons as those who imported and spread the stolen content.

But here we're talking about 1 freebie shop on 1 grid. And the grid is hosted in a country with close connections to North American IP rights. Almost too easy to DMCA into total submission.

Don't forget all these people who started this, were volunteers, who never got paid.

It already exists Cheryl. There is no situation, but the one you put yourself in. Open your mind, and your heart. There be hundreds, of wonderful, fun loving people here. Maybe need to go to new places, and explore and participate. Sounds like you need a big hug. HUGS!

Who is damaged? We love what we do here, we only respond in outrage, when attacked by someone new, who thinks they know it all. For the most part, we do all work together. Most of us folks, get along, and have lots of fun. Maybe lose the attitude, you might make more friends.

But Osgrid is the reason we are all here, as it is a test platform. If it wasn't for the dedicated volunteers, none of this would be possible. They don't constantly ask for money, as they have an auction, once a year. They are a non profit organization.

Ah Shea it's a great idea, the next exhibition could be about couples, and yes you're going to have to serve as a model, I'm up to the challenge and I find the idea very pleasant, thank you dear, hugs :D

I think you should do as you please. Never mind what others think. There are more "normal" avatars, out there. That are so sexually frustrated, and hide nothing, in chat, (be it private or public), clothing, and attitude. That nobody thinks, is considered unruly .

Kinda confused. Event ad says in 15 min, at 8 pm. Yet the grid time will only be 1700/ or 5pm.

I have a western themed region too. We have used this guy there also. He is called Mr Butter over here. lol

Yes I found him at Sketchfab and Fred Beckhusen animated him. There is another in opensim I have seen someone else brought him in too. That is what I love about Sketchfab is that there are great models for free. It i just a matter of rigging or decimating to upload to Opensim. If anyone wants a copy of him he is free at the General Mercantile store in Abandoned and also at Outworldz welcome.

Yes I agree, is so much fun. Endless possibilities. We have him at trails region, animated shop, on AVW.

@@=rolls eyes. This topic is getting old. There are many of us who cannot afford luxuries. We thank each and everyone, who share their items, with us poor folks. Many of us are on a fixed income, and cannot afford extras. Sharing~is Caring!=The motto for Opensim users. If those of you who need to charge, then just do it, but quit your complaining.

Slightly wrong topic.

This isn't about whether or not charging money for content is justified. This is about someone looking for legal content, preferably made in OpenSim for OpenSim. Regardless of whether it's payware or freebies. Anything, as long as it isn't stolen from SL.

And no, stolen SL content is NOT the only alternative to payware.

I never said, stolen content is the alternative. I said, I am thankful, to those who decide to share. Items do NOT just come from stupid SL. Many people make items here, on Opensim. Topic, is still about items that are given free, or being charged for.

Most grids are overbuilt. They are magnificent to see, but to rez grass, flowers, bushes etc..takes a good graphics card ,etc.. Builders who want their sim to be a meeting place, for parties with live performers, or dj's. Should make the minimal decor, for venues. If they want, to have the people join them. I shut off particles, low distance, use the FS AO, and try to keep complexity under 100 000. Still have issues, moving, walking etc.. So end up de-rendering entire Venue.

Two more things are important for party or event sims that are often underestimated. One is simply server power. One does not simply host a party on a Raspberry Pi. The other one is Internet connection speed, upstream in particular. That's why you shouldn't run a party sim at home unless your connection is fast enough for home-hosting an ISP.

Rogue, you did an amazing job, of lining up, some of the most amazing, funny, entertaining bunch, of fun loving people like we have ever seen. Talented bunch, including you. Aussie always runs a smooth party, and a dedicated crew, keeps Osgrid "KEEP ON.. KEEPING ON". Great party, enjoyed by many grids. Your right, music soothes the soul. \o/
