The human brain loves to categorize things. It’s how we make sense of our world on a daily basis. This has much to do with why we are so quick to make assumptions. Our brains need to understand why people say what they say by filling in the blanks. The breakdown happens when our assumptions are flat or wrong. It’s dangerous to believe you know everything about ANYONE here and vice versa. When you communicate with people in general, do so as clearly as possible with an open mind and open ears. 3rd Rock Grid slated for closure May 15 2024
I am very sad to announce what seems to be the inevitable closure of the historical 3RD Rock Grid in OpenSim. I say historical because it is notable as being the 3rd official OpenSim grid to open for business many,many years ago. I joined 3RD Rock in early 2011, shortly after it opening and have been calling it my virtual home away from home since then. Due to a recent series of cascading events our servers are inaccessible by our Adim team, below I will post a portion of my transcript copied during our last community meeting date March 23 2024.

[13:12] Eldovar Lamilton: As all of you have noticed of the past one and a half years, fate has hit us hard during the past time.
[13:13] Eldovar Lamilton: 1. It all started when we lost our system administrator from one day to the other without any further notice. We were left without access and documentation to the grid, and the person refused any further contact. To the day we have no idea why he reacted as he did, because from our perspective there was no reason at all to do so, our relationship seemed good, he received much more than the money he requested for the work he did.
[13:14] Eldovar Lamilton: It took us a long time to get access to the servers again. And the biggest problem that remained was, that he had rewritten (and improved) a few core parts of the Opensim software, but other than agreed, he never gave us the source code of those program parts.
[13:15] Eldovar Lamilton: 2. In October last year we lost one of our most important servers: the one that was running the Starfleet regions and many more important regions, we call it server 107. Kira Tiponi worked hard to get that server replaced and managed to restore all the regions that were there and finally, at the beginning of January this year, she succeeded. The plan was, that she shows nme everything she has done and gives me full access to the new server 107 at the beginning of February this year.
[13:16] Eldovar Lamilton: 3. In January, we got the sad message, that Kira has passed away. She did not have time to pass over all the information that she had and that was necessary to access the new server.
[13:16] Eldovar Lamilton: This was the final stroke to the grid as well.
[13:17] Eldovar Lamilton: Despite all our efforts, the situation now is, that we don't have access to all the servers - I still try to get access to the server housing company where the physical bare metal servers are running. Even with that, we do not have access to all our servers, those few that we have access to, we cannot manage because the system administrator that helped us move from the Florida servers to the new servers in Europe, has rewritten some crucial part of the software, and we don't have the source code to it (as mentioned above).
[13:18] Eldovar Lamilton: To summarize the situation: this grid is not manageable anymore.
[13:18] Eldovar Lamilton: As a consequence, we have decided heavy heartedly, to shut down 3RG.

Letztes Jahr wiederum, bei einer Party von Genie (Offworld) hast du Nasti und Karin als Sylvia zur Party kam und noch nicht einmal gerezzt war, Sylvia entwürdigt und angegriffen, das sie sofort weg ging und dies öffentlich, hier hat sich keiner eingemischt obwohl das unter aller Würde war, wenn ihr euch nicht mehr daran erinnert kann ich mit Offenlegung nachhelfen.
Und was ich am vergangenen Freitag am 23.Februar 2024 bei der Party vom Genie (Offworld) wo ich sachlich der AnaKathy.Rosenburg meine Meinung geäussert hatte
und hierzu über das Verhalten von sich einmischenden anwesenden Soul Mitgliedern und speziell über Karin feststellen musste in ihrer IM Nachricht dazu an mich, das diese Person weder eine Erziehung noch ein Ausbildung genossen haben kann, sie schreibt mir unter anderem im Wortlaut: du dreckige du kannst doch nicht unsere Souler die Ana angreifen
Jetzt verstehe ich auch liebe Nasti warum du nie alleine zu einer Party gehst und deine gehirnlosen Bodyguards dabei sein müssen.
Ich würde mich riesig über eine Äusserung von euch freuen, aber ich würde vorschlagen uns an neutralem Platz am besten nicht in Schriftform sondern zum Reden zu treffen mit Chill entspannender Musik im Hintergrund damit euere Gehirnzellen vielleicht beruhigt werden und wenn euer Still wieder auf assoziale Sprüche überschlägt und die Leute die euch noch nicht kennen kann man dies ja mit härterem Musiktönen übertönen und danach PARTYTIME !
Dieser neutrale Ort kann in Sandbox oder auch bei Micky im GWG sein, nicht zu vergessen, wozu er vorher befragt werden muss.
Noch etwas zu Ana Kathy, liebe Ana du weißt ab und an nicht was du redest und von dir gibst, ich will dir nicht zu nahe treten aber der Anschein erweckt es wie wenn du Persönlichkeitsstörungen hättest, ich kann dir einen Ratschlag geben, lass dir helfen.
Noch eine Bemerkung von mir Tommy und Crazy mischen sich in meine Belange nicht ein, sie verhalten sich nicht wie Souler. Ich bezahle auch kein Schutzgeld für mein virtuelles Dasein und Zuhause.
Ich schenke euch ein schönes Lächeln, was ich vorläufig in mein Profil real als Bild eingestellt habe, es ist zwar nicht mein wunderschönes Lächeln aber für die Souler reicht dies aus.

Some members of the Soul Grid appear to be brainless and abusive, unable to distinguish an opinion from an argument or argument.
Dear Nasti, what caused an argument is what you did last year, you know where (Phil Collins Live) here you were insidiously inciting people, which I now found out afterwards after Tommy and Crazy stopped going to Sylvia's party wanted to go to the GWG.
Last year again, at a Genie (Offworld) party, when Sylvia came to the party and wasn't even rezzed, you degraded and attacked Sylvia, so she immediately left and did so publicly. Nobody interfered here, even though that was the case was beneath all dignity, if you don't remember it, I can help by disclosing it.
And what I said last Friday on February 23, 2024 at the Genie (Offworld) party, where I objectively expressed my opinion to AnaKathy.Rosenburg and about the behavior of soul members present who were interfering and especially about Karin, she had to realize in her IM message to me that this person could not have had any upbringing or training. Among other things, she wrote to me verbatim: you dirty, you can´t attack our Soulers, here the Ana.
Now I understand, dear Nasti, why you never go to a party alone and your mindless bodyguards have to be there.
I would be very happy to hear from you, but I would suggest meeting in a neutral place, ideally not in writing form but in talking, with chill, relaxing music in the background so that your brain cells might be calmed down and if your silence turns back to anti-social sayings and the people who don't know you yet, you can drown this out with harder music and then PARTYTIME!
This neutral location can be in Sandbox or with Mickey in the GWG, not forgetting what he needs to be asked about beforehand.
One more thing about Ana Kathy, dear Ana, you sometimes don't know what you're saying and what you're saying, I don't want to offend you, but it seems like you have personality disorders, I can give you some advice, let me help you .
Another comment from me Tommy and Crazy don't interfere in my concerns, they don't behave like Soulers.
I also don't pay protection money for my virtual existence and home.

How to copy your friends from one seriously borked installation to a new fresh installation. First download and run mysqlworkbench. Run the seriously fubarred dreamgrid, and use mysqlworkbench to connect to it. Under databases select the friends table. Enter an sql query like this one: select * from robust.friends; then next a table is generated of all your friends. Click the export button to save this table to your hard disk. Close down the fubarred dreamgrid. Run the new dreamgrid installation. Open wordpad and change your old key in the friends.cvs to your new key in the new installation, search & replace all instances. Now with mysqlworkbench opened IMPORT the saved friends.cvs into the new dreamgrid installation and restart it.

I was looking on Kitley MP for some things and went to the textures page. Timeless Textures is still there even though the owner of it passed away in RL almost a year ago. Their store on Second life Marketplace is shut down. If people are still buying her textures on Kitely where is the money going for those sales? I know that the most recent texture was uploaded in 2017. Should her store still be up on Kitely or has someone been given permission to use that name?

Certain assets broken all over the Hypergrid?
I've been encountering a strange phenomenon for quite a while now.
Firestorm reproducibly does not texture certain surfaces. They're rare, but they're always the same.
One example that comes to mind: Swiss Cafe (in case you know it), second ground floor window from the left, the "non-moving" parts. They're always "textured" plain white. Even on derivatives of this building, and regardless of on which sim on which grid they're located.
This happens to two different avatars of mine from two separate grids each (two avatars on one grid, two avatars on another grid). It also happens on two separate computers, both booting Debian testing, but I don't think the underlying OS has any influence. This rules faulty cache content out.
In fact, it even happens after I've completely deleted the cache manually outside Firestorm.
I've tested various Firestorm versions from 6.3.9 to 7.1.9 today, and they all show this strange behaviour. That is, I do recall having seen the Swiss Cafe properly with all textures in the past, using Firestorm.
A while ago, I tried saving the general settings and all avatar settings, then deleting the entire ~/.firestorm_x64 directory. It didn't change anything.
Eventually, I tried the Cool VL Viewer. It doesn't render that texture either. So it's actually independent from the viewer as well.
Can it be that assets can be damaged by faulty asset servers or something, and that damage spreads all across the Hypergrid and wrecks all copies and all derivatives of the affected content?
Firestorm reproducibly does not texture certain surfaces. They're rare, but they're always the same.
One example that comes to mind: Swiss Cafe (in case you know it), second ground floor window from the left, the "non-moving" parts. They're always "textured" plain white. Even on derivatives of this building, and regardless of on which sim on which grid they're located.
This happens to two different avatars of mine from two separate grids each (two avatars on one grid, two avatars on another grid). It also happens on two separate computers, both booting Debian testing, but I don't think the underlying OS has any influence. This rules faulty cache content out.
In fact, it even happens after I've completely deleted the cache manually outside Firestorm.
I've tested various Firestorm versions from 6.3.9 to 7.1.9 today, and they all show this strange behaviour. That is, I do recall having seen the Swiss Cafe properly with all textures in the past, using Firestorm.
A while ago, I tried saving the general settings and all avatar settings, then deleting the entire ~/.firestorm_x64 directory. It didn't change anything.
Eventually, I tried the Cool VL Viewer. It doesn't render that texture either. So it's actually independent from the viewer as well.

Here's another evergreen OSW debate for ya... a troll latches on to a well-respected member of the community. Then, under the guise of 'defending' their famous friend, they launch attacks of righteous indignation on, ya know, anyone.
The famous (but completely gaslighted) friend then defends the troll, and we all shake our heads and say nothing. Cuz, what can anyone usefully say?
