When I discovered OS in 2015, there was not all the stuff we have now. I thought the owner of the grid I had landed on was the most creative person I had ever met as literally every single thing on his grid was created by him.
When I complimented him on his great talent, I learned for the first time about OARS and Linda Kelly. They were all her OARS and because he uploaded them to his grid, the technology recognized him as the creator. A lot of people with grids had her OARS at that time as it allowed a grid to have regions already set up and get the grids up and running quickly. Every one of them showed as creators of Linda Kelly OARS on their grids. This is the nature of uploading OARS into a grid even if it was originally created by someone else. Tech makes you the creator. It's a thing. It seems if there was a fix it would have been done by now. I have an OAR of my land. I fully expect everything on it that I didn't make, I will become the creator along with everything I did make if I ever have to use it. It is upsetting cause no one wants to claim the work of others unless they are a jerk, but there may not be a fix for that, so people need to chill. I created more on my region than not, so in the event I have to use the OAR one day because of a disaster, I will be darn happy MY work got saved and offer disclaimers and apologies to all the creator's work I did use on my build. As far as I know, that is the nature of uploading our OARS. Hang a sign with disclaimers and if anyone sees their stuff and is upset about their name not being on it any longer, then they can always offer you an exchange of the product with their name on it. Another thing, Did the names of the items in question change the name or description? Or did just the creator name change?

The actual Name of the product and the description stayed in tact.. it did NOT change in any way! When I click to edit.. it says Felix Mafia is the creator.. but when I click on an item inside.. it has me listed as the creator because I uploaded the oar.. ALL of this was brought to my attention today when I tried to teleport to one of my favorite regions where I shop.. it said the mac address was blocked.. so I contacted the store owner and asked why.. they said because I removed their name as creator.. I did not and I would never do that! Not intentionally.. this was done via tech error.. I did not do this! OpenSim is MESSED UP MAN!

If you can see who the creator is, one thing you can do is put the creator's name in the description, Like Created By SoandSo. Leave the original name of the object. I don't think there is any other way to fix this. One thing I am now doing is I put Star Ravenhurst Designs as part of the name, I put it in the description and then a note card is automatically inserted into every prim I rez when building stuff. If someone uploads an OAR that has anything I have created on it, at least my name will still be attached to the object even if it shows them as the creator. The only reason to be mad in this case is if people go renaming stuff and remove my name as part of the name of the object. These days, there is a LOT of stuff that is showing Unknown as the creator, so there is that as well. Putting your name in the name field when naming whatever it is will help keep your name attached.

yes you are right.. it does show UNKNOWN.. you should check out my video on Facebook.. I edited the post to include the link! friendme too if you like!

When I first joined Open Sim there was not a lot available except a lot of Linda Kelly and for furniture, WIckenshire had (and still does) the most beautiful prim-built furnishings and decor I have ever seen. There was no such thing as mesh avatars and not much mesh of anything. I found an avatar shape and skin that I liked and I still have the same shape today that I have modified extensively. I have no idea who made it. The skin I found at a since-closed Sim and used it until last year when I came across some 3D skins at a shop at Needful Things. So I still use a Classic Avatar and I shop for original content for her. Many people assume my avatar is mesh. I have a terrible time with mesh avatars even on a gaming system. As for other content, I have no idea where a lot of stuff comes from and I am sure I have used copy-botted stuff in my region. It seems to be the nature of Open SIm these days. I try my best to create my own stuff, but some things I just don't know how to do, like hair..I can't do hair, so I shop at R. Lion's store for hair as it is the best and the HUDs work. I feel terrible guilt about it, but my vanity won't allow me to go bald. So I wear stolen hair. :)

I'm as active in opensim as I am in SL. 90% of the hairs (doux) I have bought them all the most recent in SL. A lot of others (like Magika) I didn't know them in SL. After seeing them in opensim I became a client for that store in SL too. So, for me I don't see it as a stolen hair. And I know I ain't the only one.
When I came to opensim my wildest desire was to have my SL inventory here, but oh boy! What a difficult task specially with my beautiful hairs. R. Lion made that possible so I respect their policy. No because I have a region in opensim I will godmod it all. But that's me, apparently.
Opensim is what is it, if anyone feel so uptight about copybot then they should go to SL and pay for everything there.

About the only jewelry I wear, any more are yours. I LOVE!!! I have accounts on a couple of other grids, so if you see me show up numerous times, it is likely because the other avatars need your creations too. They all have the same name and look the same, but I have to go shopping for each. I rarely use any of them as I have a "Home" grid I am on most of the time, but I do log on to those grids and try to keep each one updated. Thank you for your creations. Finding your store a few months ago was the luckiest find!

I don't worry about information collecting through technology as I know it is the price we pay to use it. In most cases, we have a choice in how much we share. Or don't share at all. At least I get better advertising. :) I also don't do anything shady to worry about that I have to hide. As long as I am protective of my financials and identity, everything else online is on a need-to-know basis. My mind is a sponge and I am interested in everything! just because I or others have an interest in AI doesn't mean we shut down our brains to let AI take over. You have to have an active, inquisitive brain to even understand the stuff! Don't like it, don't use it. I use AI for menial tasks I don't want to do while I am doing something else...like Alexa, turn on Kitchen, Alexa, turn on Floor lamp, Alexa play Two Feet Radio on Pandora.... :D

ChatGPT is amazing, except you won't get a lottery prediction from it. This is what I put into it and what I got back. :)
Predict the winning numbers for the Texas Lottery Extra

I'm sorry, I am not able to predict the winning numbers for the Texas Lottery Extra or any other lottery. Lottery numbers are chosen randomly, and it is not possible to predict the outcome of a random event. It is important to remember that lotteries are a form of gambling, and it is not a reliable or sustainable way to make money.

Well, I tried. :D

Congratulations on opening your new shop! I am so excited! I use a classic avatar I have had forever and to have another source for clothing is AWESOME!!! Thank you! I will visit soon!

At one time I had a clothing store called Avi-Style in SL and Avination. Mel contacted me to take my store to Avination from SL which is actually the first Opensim experience yet it was a closed grid. I love making clothes, I just hadn't in so long because I tried all the other options available. I have since discovered Classic again and having fun! Stop by anytime!

Almost all of my stuff is Full Perm. I want people to be able to have it, transfer it to their other personalities, and share it with their friends. All I ask is don't change the name on it as I am putting my name on everything since so many things end up as creator unknown. Don't try to claim it as your own work. That is being a terrible person if you claim something that isn't your own creation. On the other hand, if you use something as part of a bigger build, then by all means, put your name on it, but if you know who the creator is of the piece you used, then give them some credit. Sadly a lot of times, you have no idea who originally created something unless their name is somehow attached to it. These people with shops that strip notecards, LMs, etc, and try to claim stuff as theirs...well they aren't fooling anyone with half a lick of sense. The thing that annoys me the most about no transfer, is clothing. I have some clothing that I have had since the beginning of my time in Open Sim and that is only because I was able to transfer it to my avatars on other grids. The first three grids I was on have all since closed. Thankfully I have been able to transfer all of my earlier builds again and again.

When I started Open Sim, there was not all the copy-botted stuff you see now. Classic avatars and prim and sculpted built furniture were the norm. I wish that all the copy-botted stuff had not made it to open sim and more folks learned to create themselves. I think a lot of the prim-built furniture is far more beautiful than the mesh stuff that all starts looking alike after a while. I have heard the term "Liberated From Second Life". I call BS. It is stealing plain and simple and you can't dress it up with pretty words and call it anything else other than theft. Someone..NOT the Lindens made that stuff and likely had to pay something to upload their textures, mesh, etc. So you are stealing from people just like you, not some corporate giant. Heck even if you are taking it from the Lindens...it is still stealing and you are a thief. That's the truth of it. That said...I think we all end up using some of the stuff..so we are all thieves. :)

If I picked it up somewhere for free and I use it for my region, then you should be able to copy it. I do build most of the architecture for my region as well as other things myself. if I want to share it, then I will put it at Masala Al Kohav boxed up. I also have a shop there with all original content of furniture and decor made by me. I am quite proud of my shop and the things I have created. A lot of the buildings in my region, I wish not to share at this time, though you will find some really cute builds at the mall including the cathedral I recently built.
One time I logged on to a message from someone who wanted one of the homes I had just finished. It wasn't rude, but it wasn't polite either. I ignored him. If you want something, you could at least introduce yourself. Open Sim doesn't mean FREE STUFF. It means that it is an OPEN SOURCE CODE that can be freely used so that we can have virtual worlds like Second Life. Just because it exists doesn't mean it is rightfully yours and should be free. If someone wants to charge for their stuff, they have every right to do so. A lot of people pay for their regions and if they are using their region to offer content for others, they may need to charge in order to pay for their region to keep bringing you content...or maybe they just need to make money. Maybe they realize the value of their creations and so they charge. If you don't like it, don't pay and go to the numerous freebie regions that mostly have copy-botted stuff. Better yet, try learning how to create your own stuff. Nothing is more satisfying than creating from a cube.
I do understand when you are at a freebie store and there isn't access to a box that isn't set up properly can be frustrating. Send a NICE message to the owner and hopefully, they will see it and correct the issue. I have even had them send me a copy of the item in question. Being nice can go a long way. That's my two cents worth!

The grid I call home uses the XEngine. I want YEngine stuff. I used to use a few of your HUDS. I wish you could make one for the XEngine as I miss using them. I suppose that is impossible though. Thank you for explaining the difference between the two. I have a much better understanding now. :)

I don't mind responding. I have one avatar on my home grid, which is Genesis. I also have avatars on a few other grids and all look alike and have the same name, just different Rezdays. I am rarely on any of them, though I do try to log on at least once a month to each grid. I have learned the hard way to have backups, especially everything I have that makes my avatar me. I don't Roleplay or play games with people (other than maybe Greedy ;)) so the personality you see in my avatar is me. Like it or not. I will likely create a male Avatar for creation purposes and you may see him out shopping if I am working on putting together avatars, but he won't have friends or be social with anyone. He definitely won't be running around breaking hearts. If someone wants to have dozens of avatars, that is fine with me. The only thing that annoys me is if someone has made friends with me and doesn't tell me that they are also the other 5 friends I made.

We are supposed to be the "Intelligent" species. And yet we can't figure out how to protect our most vulnerable creatures on this planet. Even the mightiest, strongest, scariest creature is no match for the evil of men (or women). We need to do better and figure it out.
