Remmy is moving to a new grid which she's starting together with Tanned Babe. I can only hope she'll bring these shops back, for the stuff she had at Tropicana Freebies before it closed down (layer swimwear, beach bags, beach hats etc.) hasn't resurfaced either except for one bikini in the Ruth 2.0 RC#3 BoM box.

In the meantime, here's a list of shops I've compiled that offer legal mesh clothes which Ruth2 can wear: https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/wiki/jupiter_rowland/Jupiter(27)s(20)Ruth2(20)and(20)Roth2(20)Wiki/Mesh(20)clothes(20)for(20)Ruth2

Ooh, that could mean two or three fewer sim builders who put everything on full bright because it's so dark.
Full bright flattens all 3d and is like phosphorescent at night. It should be restricted to light-emitting objects. This is for screens, not plants. The major material revamp which is coming, a.k.a. Physically Based Rendering or PBR, should make reflective objects like metal more realistic without using full bright.
liked(1)
It should. In theory.

In practice, there are sim builders who are like, "It's so fucking dark here, I can't see shit, I'mma switch all this crap on full bright!"

Sure, they could install proper illumination. But full bright is quicker and easier and more convenient, they couldn't see proper shading on their toaster hardware anyway, and it saves them from having to copybot lamps from SL first (which, in turn, is quicker and easier and more convenient than looking for lamps on the Hypergrid).

Love this meme. I'm a big fan of projectors, as almost everybody has Advanced Lighting on nowadays. Even without projectors, adding point light to a scene is always a big plus, especially at night. Lights do not need to match light fixtures position. In fact, they never do. Make them transparent and move them until best illumination effect is achieved.

Okay, here's a start.

Two names that shouldn't be missing are Linda Kellie and Selea Core.

You may want to go around Wright Plaza (https://opensimworld.com/hop/75040) which is chock-full of shops run by original OpenSim creators such as Sean Heavy, Hylee Bekkers, Oopsee Joseppe (layer stockings!), Elif Kling (important source for make-up for Ruth2 v4!), Caro Fayray, Nebadon Izumi (who also built the whole place), Warin Cascabel, Suzi Avonside etc.

While you're in OSgrid, also have a look at Festa 24H which has probably been removed from here again. There you can find more creators such as Prinz von Halberstadt or Morgaine Alter.

Also, in OSgrid, visit RuthAndRoth, the official sim of the Ruth2 and Roth2 projects. People involved in these:
Shin Ingen (former project lead up to Ruth 2.0 RC#3 and Roth 2.0 RC#1)
Ada Radius
Sundance Haiku
Serie Sumei
Sean Heavy (creator of the RuthToo and RothToo forks, offers his own products on this sim as well)
Austin Tate a.k.a. Ai Austin (current project lead for Ruth2 v4 and Roth2 v2)
Contributors also include:
Eloh Eliot (skins)
Chip Midnight (skins)
Linda Kellie (skins, layer clothes)

Next, creators of original mesh clothes including clothes rigged for Ruth 2.0 or other bodies from the family:

Taarna Welles
https://opensimworld.com/hop/75031
Also, https://opensimworld.com/hop/74862, and then go to La Baronnie which isn't listed here

Klarabella Karamell
https://opensimworld.com/hop/82702 (it's online, she has removed the beacon)
https://opensimworld.com/hop/81258 (it's online, she has removed the beacon)
Uses store space here: https://opensimworld.com/hop/78061 (there's also stuff by other creators here, including my Cary Bean/Deva Moda corner, but not everything here is "clean")
Has a shoe store here: https://opensimworld.com/hop/80119

Loru Destiny
Has deliberately removed the listing of her shop sim from OSW; I'll have to look up the taxi
Also has a store here: https://opensimworld.com/hop/81253

Hyacinth Jean
Has a shop sim on her own grid with her bodies LuvMyBod (RuthToo fork) and Diana (continuation of LuvMyBod with BoM) and clothes for LuvMyBod which isn't listed on OSW; I'll have to look up the taxi
Her Ruth 2.0 clothes can be found in a shop here: https://opensimworld.com/hop/81253

If I've listed multiple sims, that's always because there is no one place where all creations by these creators can be found, and each place has some exclusives.

What makes finding and listing creators more difficult is that many have their stores in places that aren't on OSW. RuthAndRoth isn't here. Vbinnia Radek's legendary Steam isn't here anymore. Taarna Welles' La Baronnie isn't here anymore. The whole Nara's Nook grid is absent from here, and HG-Safari host Thirza Ember offers her layer swimwear and lingerie there (some of her simwear can be found here: https://opensimworld.com/hop/75544). There are several sims in Craft-World with original content (including Damien Fate-based clothes as well as layer clothes useful for BoM bodies) that aren't listed here. And I can name three sims in Dereos with exclusive content that aren't listed here either.

The above is also why people claim that there's literally nothing for Ruth2 v4 to wear (because pretty much none of the big freebie sims offer "rigged for Ruth2" clothes) and then wonder where Juno gets all her clothes.

I'm working on off-site shopping guides for the Ruth2 family, especially the BoM bodies which will completely leave out illegal content. It will, however, list shops offering clothes based on meshes by Damien Fate which were originally created for Second Life, but then offered to the OpenSim community (https://outworldz.com/Secondlife/posts/mesh-templates/).

Last but not least, Damien Fate and Arcadia Asylum technically only count as Second Life creators. (No, Arcadia Asylum has never been in OpenSim herself.)

One more thought: Maybe someone should start a group in OpenSim (yes, in case you haven't noticed, OpenSim has user-created, user-maintained groups: https://opensimworld.com/groups) for legal content and especially content created in and for OpenSim. I already have one for the Ruth2 and Roth2 mesh body families: https://opensimworld.com/groups/1014

I meet Arcadia Asylum on OSG I think over ten years ago. She was working on a Brazilian urban ghetto build. She didn't like to be disturbed while building (which may be why her presence on OS was not generally known). As conversation was not permitted, all I could do is listen. What I recall is that she said she was essentially bed-ridden in a Swiss care facility but was able to log in-world on occasion, which is likely why she was focused on building, not chit chat. She had lots of stories about her time as a Linden. I think she said she worked on the road network...it's been so long, I've forgotten all the details. The build was massive and I doubt she was doing it in SL. I'm pretty sure this was in OS...or I met a convincing imposter.
Yes, there is an avatar named Arcadia Asylum on OSgrid. But to my best knowledge, this account was created by someone else to import Arcadia's SL creations and credit her appropriately. The best way to do that was by registering an avatar with her name and making that avatar the "creator" of her items.

The unavoidable side-effect were rumours that Arcadia had been in OpenSim herself, making you wonder what the word "Banned" on the rear side of that statue means, like, why someone would ban someone as nice as Arcadia from an OpenSim grid. The "Banned" only refers to Linden Labs banning Arcadia multiple times for costing them money rather than making them money.
Right. Which is why I doubt I met multi-banned AA in SL. The person I met in OS was certainly working in the AA style... And that Swiss care facility story: plausible? She said she was very infirm for some reason I've forgotten.
Urban Blight was Arcadia's first project, even before mesh. That was ca. 2006-2008 when Arcadia Asylum got banned. Maybe whomever you've met simply used the various Urban Blight parts after they had been imported into OpenSim.

From 2008 on, she was in SL at least under the names of Lora Lemon and Aley Arai. It was especially the space pirates that fell into this era. At least Aley Arai was banned in 2010, probably both. In 2012, she came back as only Aley (or Aley Resident) and built her pirate, steampunk and clockpunk themes until some point in 2015; not sure if she was banned again.
This was Urban Blight in a Brazilian slum... It was located on a full sim. What I'm curious about is the story of being infirm and living in a Swiss care facility. A fanciful story by a AA imitator, a story of AA's life at one point, appropriated by an imitator, or AA herself?
Or the story of whoever created the Arcadia Asylum avatar to import Arcadia Asylum content into OpenSim in such a way that the Creator tag says "Arcadia Asylum" on all items.

This wasn't imitation. This was only giving proper credit to Arcadia Asylum. This was the only way to have the name "Arcadia Asylum" written on the items as their creator. The user behind that avatar only didn't tell you under which name they're usually around OpenSim. Whoever that was may actually have been in a Swiss care facility and thus had the time to import and prepare Arcadia's creations and build demonstrator sims. But they have never willingly implied Arcadia herself was in a Swiss care facility.

So this means that whoever imported all that Arcadia Asylum stuff also manually built a demonstration sim for Urban Blight. This person may also be the official creator of the famous Flotsam Pirate Town which is available as an OAR and has several instances currently running; I don't know whether it's a recreation of a sim that Arcadia had built as a demonstrator.

To be fair, at least Heart Botanic and Skye are SL brands.

And there are many beaches in OpenSim built with pieces from the Skye kit that have been copybotted at some point in the past. You can tell this from three things: One, the pieces are full-perm which payware shouldn't be. Two, the sim owner obviously only has one or two different pieces in their inventory. Three, the sim owner obviously doesn't have any readme that must have come with the box either, telling from how they've used these pieces ("shelf beach" for example).

Now, I guess since this kit is available in OpenSim, hardly anyone would take the risk and steal them from SL.

@Arielle: When I say "OpenSim devs", I DO mean those who created OpenSim, the source code and everything.

I also said that there are people who believe that these slogans have always been an official part of OpenSim, of OpenSim's very concept. Therefore, these slogans must logically have been created by the same people as OpenSim itself. And these would be the developers.

You know it's wrong. I know it's wrong. Many others take this for an undeniable fact.

Also, there are no clothes for Ruth2? Fake news. I hope this is just you not knowing that Ruth2 clothes exist because they aren't available free and full-perm at every freebie store out there and not propaganda deliberately spread to keep people away from legal content.

I know at least four creators who made or still make mesh clothes for Ruth 2.0 from scratch. Taarna Welles, Hyacinth Jean (she also made her own body based on RuthToo and clothes for it), Loru Destiny, Klarabella Karamell. The latter two are good acquaintances of mine.

Taarna and Klara actually made something that you won't find anywhere for any ripped SL body, not for Athena, not for HG, not for Legacy, not for Reborn: medium-height shoes. These shoes were made for Ruth 2.0, and they don't even fit Athena & Co., only bodies from the Ruth2 family. Amongst the other things Klara makes are skirts in lengths and shapes that hardly anyone makes in SL and nobody copybots from there because the copybotters deem them not sexy enough.

Apart from that, Ruth2 bodies can also wear various Damien Fate and Clutterfly pieces of clothing. And let's not forget that BoM bodies, and there are at least five different BoM-enabled bodies in the Ruth2 family, can wear layer clothes as well.

Ruth 2.0 and descendants are actually easier to dress in non-racy, non-slutty, not primarily sexy, girl-next-door ways than Athena, HG, Legacy, Reborn, Kupra etc. will ever be. They even seem to be easier to dress warmly for winter sims where all the Athenas seemingly have to run around in microskirts or microdresses with bare legs in 4" spike-heeled footwear.

If there are no clothes that any Ruth2 body could possibly wear, how come my in-world sister Juno (Ruth2 v4) has 3,700 outfits in her inventory, probably covering a wider range of outfits you'll ever come across worn by Athenas? Oh, and she refuses to wear copybotted clothes.
Yet your choice of wording implies exactly what you now admit is wrong. The people who might say that the Opensim dev's initiated and supported those slogans, are simply doing what they can to cast Opensim in a bad light, somewhat like you do. Agent provocateur's so to speak and there is a long history of those coming from SecondLife to do exactly that because of their fear that they will lose residents from there to come here. It is not that they actually believe it or don't know better. You seem to do what you can to validate their beliefs by continuing to bring it up.

Fake news on the Ruth/Roth clothing? I think not. All the fitted mesh clothing for those bodies can be put in a small store and have room left to spare. At best just some very basic styles that only noobies would wear. The more fashionestic among us do not see them as a realistic option. I personally like micro dresses but prefer 6 inch heels rather than 4. Thing is that regardless of your tastes in clothes, if the Ruth creators are not putting out the type of clothing the market is looking for, consumers are not going to be beating a path to your store. Complain and whine all you want but that is how it supply and demand works. If commercial opensim creators are not putting out what people want, then you should not be surprised if noone is buying or wearing their stuff. Anything from LK is now at least 8-10 years old in fashion style. I won't wear stuff in S/L even that is more then a year old because it looks dated. How much more so when it is a decade old and doesn't include some of the newer features that have been brought into the viewers. If your sister Juno likes it that's great but does she set the standard for everyone else? I'm not going to have my avatar wear clothing I don't like, why is that hard to understand? You want commercial creators to be more successful? Then get them to start putting out stuff that the market is looking for.

I love seeing original work here. Just seems so creative to me that people take it upon themselves to learn to do these things for themselves and to share. Its a process of see a need and do something about it to fill the need.
liked(3)
And that "do something about it" should not always be "go to SL, rip it, take it to OpenSim and keep people from ever using legal alternatives".

I mean, people still copybot plain old park benches from SL although we have plenty of fully functional legal ones that don't necessarily look any worse.

Guess you've triggered Deadman.

They're just another one of those content hoarders who want everything in OpenSim to be copyable and shareable for free and full-perm. Who want all the newest, hottest stuff from Second Life to be available for free in OpenSim. All of it. Who "know for a fact" that "Never buy in OpenSim", "Sharing is caring", "Share with no mercy", "Share or die" and similar slogans were coined by the OpenSim main developers and not by the copybotting mafia. Who, by the way, see copybotting of expensive premium luxury content in Second Life and sharing it in OpenSim free and full-perm as "liberating" content. And who refer to any and all criticism on this as "drama" and see it as an offence that justifies sim-wide or grid-wide perma-bans.

It's these people who are often a hindrance to creativity in OpenSim itself, indirectly by supporting the flooding of the Hypergrid with free-and-full-perm Second Life payware as well as directly by trying to keep people from acquiring OpenSim's own legal products, be it by harassing creators, be it by talking others out of using legal content and into using illegal content instead.

Not few actually want any and all legal content to be purged from the Hypergrid. To them, payware doesn't have a place in OpenSim, and all freebies are "Linda Kellie crap" at worst and have to be cleansed from the Hypergrid for tainting it with their sub-par quality in comparison to the best Second Life payware. They don't have a personal beef with Linda Kellie; instead, her name stands for everyone who makes their own freebies in and for OpenSim.

This issue has three sides.

One, Second Life creators. They're either in an arms race with other creators for who makes the best-looking bodies and clothes, one-upping each other in triangles and 1024x1024 textures because only whoever makes the most highly-detailed stuff has customers. Or they're sloppy, and they simply don't care, especially when they don't actually make the meshes themselves.

Two, copybotters. To them, the very same applies. Whoever churns out the most newest stuff with the most details has the most customers = the most visitors and wins the OSW ranking race. Either that, or optimising meshes would take up too much time that could be used instead to pump out more stuff so that their competition doesn't offer it before they do. Or, again, they simply neither know nor care.

Three, customers. More and more OpenSim users cannot be satisfied with what has been copybotted between 2015 and 2021 anymore. This was obvious last year already when more and more people copybotted their own SL inventories and wore that stuff in OpenSim. People demand the newest hottest shit from SL. Only that this newest hottest shit is always ridiculously high-poly, and hardly anyone can be bothered to optimise it. See above. Some even seem to see ARC as a measurement of good looks. And if you complain, they'll tell you to shut up and get yourself a fucking 4090, and/or they'll insult your avatar as revoltingly, pain-inducingly ugly for having an ARC under 500,000 and wearing something that wasn't copybotted at some point in the last 12 months.

Unfortunately, there are people out there who want to see Dorena's World gone. And I don't mean gone from OSW, but gone altogether. Shut down for good with every last one of its residents disappearing from the Hypergrid along with it. There has definitely been quite a variety of attacks against Dorena, Anachron and their grid. Some people actually, totally unironically want to see Dorena herself dead, and I'm not just talking about her avatar.

Dorena's World is home to a bunch of very controversial people, that's clear. This includes some of the "weirdest" DJs on the Hypergrid who, instead of just tossing out party hits, select the music for their sets by topic rather than by genre. Even if it's by genre, it's genres that "nobody" wants to hear. Clearly, all their events have to be inflated with bots because "literally nobody" would attend such crap. Nobody comes visit this POS grid anyway, right?

This includes Klarabella Karamell who, next to being one of the "weird" DJs, just doesn't stop making original mesh clothes that "nobody" wants to wear for mesh bodies that "nobody" uses anyway. All this in spite of Athena with tons of matching clothes, and even that is slowly being displaced by newer stolen bodies with matching stolen clothes. I can already see some copybotting proponents celebrate Klara's retreat from OSW as a victory.

This includes myself who not only openly prefers legal content over illegal content whenever possible, but who even advertises legal content and helps it spread. Who "tries to ruin freebie sim owners' businesses" by even peddling Linda Kellie stuff. And who flaunts his badly-concealed female alt everywhere despite clearly being too dumb to make good-looking female avatars.

And this includes Dorena herself who runs a small and very openly very leftist grid in an otherwise rather conservative-conformist grid landscape against all odds. Who even keeps generating good publicity for her grid with things like HG-Safari visits or the one-week peace festival last year. And let's not forget the annual grid birthday at which she "brags" with how long this grid has been around and "hogs" live acts from the Hypergrid like Wolem Wobbit and Torben Asp.

Some say all this has to be terminated. ASAP. It's too weird to be allowed to exist. Same goes for all those pricks who dare side with Dorena.

From my point of view, Pagane let herself be dragged into the total war of destruction and annihilation against Dorena and her grid.
