Thanks Fred you are the reason why I came back to Opensim because the software you create has helped make it so easy to run OS. I just don't have the patience to manually do everything and Dreamgrid makes it so easy. I'm so greatful for what you do!
Jared I didn't know you could send it into Samsung like that. Is there a procedure or addresss? or just send it to samsung general address? I will try this, if you do still happen to have the address you sent it to, that would be awesome. Hopefully maybe they can fix it.
Go to the Samsung Warranty Page and you can file a claim. I had to do this.. The drive that I had apparently this was a known issue where it could get "locked". They were able to fix it for me. Make sure you have your receipt and information ready. Luckily I had bought mine from BestBuy and I was able to get the receipt from the web portal. My drive had a 5yr warranty and I had no clue! Hope this info helps! Samsung support can be a bit choppy until u get the right department make sur you talk to someone in memory / storage department -
Also after I sent in mine I found out there was a firmware update that would address it if I had done so before it had the issue which I had no clue about it.
Try what Jared says here, CyberGlo. These things are fixable. As JayR said below, it is most likely a cap or IC that has gone bad on its controller. Replacing these tiny parts would fix it.
I love spending time with people like that. They offer so much good information and history. My friend worked for Paramount and she has the best stories!
