SL shares the same problem, for what it's worth. Except that it also throws in sales-based events in the mix as well.

I know that speaking personally, I'm fairly guilty of this as well. There's a couple of places I go to regularly to see the people I know, and apart from that I'd rather just hang out on my own grid and work on my personal projects.

I agree with everything you say about aging -I've been in virtual worlds 16 years myself. There's another thing to consider -where SL (and opensim) are in the tech life cycle. Going by this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hype_cycle I would say that we're in the trough of disillusionment, and as developers have peeled off it's questionable if Opensimulator will progress to later stages or not.

What that means is that new people won't be drawn to Opensimulator. It's too old, the graphics (compared to modern games) are too primitive to be impressive and it requires a desktop computer in an age when most people don't even own one (and instead use mobile).

There's exceptions; I know folks in their 20's who are in opensim; but they're exceptions.

My point is: we need new blood but because of how old the tech is, I don't expect us to get it.

I neglected to mention the content from Outworldz and from Zadaroo, both of which are explicitly open source.

Yes, there certainly is legal content in opensim.

If you're worried about it, stick to open source content such as Zadroo and Outworldz, or to creators such as Marianna ( https://opensimworld.com/user/Marianna ) who are happy to tell you the province of the things they offer.

So what's the problem? That they're horny? That they're Japanese ?

It's erotica, and Stark is an adult region with a long history of being tied to erotic content.

That's a good thing. As for reputation, what damage and in whose eyes?

No, it was just an example, because Hentei is from Japan!

It's erotica, and Stark is an adult region with a long history associated with erotic content.
Erotic I find good , content with adults , Hentai aims at a childlike portrayed way.

That's a good thing. As for reputation, what damage and in whose eyes?
In my eyes childish / very young women representations.
That should not be portrayed, with adult portrayals there is no problem.

It doesn't look rude -it looks fun. I can't wait to grab my copy!
Of course there's always someone who will take offense at something. Life is too short, don't worry about them. :)

"hack" can mean a lot of things -items that are all white (blank texture) sounds to me like an error saving to your asset server (it looks like it's normal until you clear your viewer cache).

Also, you *can* back up to oar file using Windows as well -from the region's DOS box. The main difference is that in windows you'd type "save oar c:\Users\Han\Documents\oar.oar" whereas in Linux you'd type something like "save oar /home/han/oar.oar". It's a good idea to save "iar" files (inventory files) on a regular basis as well. But yeah -backup, backup, backup is the name of the game. I agree with you there!

i get what you are all saying, but if you contact me i will show you proof. There is a feature in hydrastorm that lets them delete everything in a sim, contact me if you want to know and i'll send you the photos. I'm serious.

That's alright, if you're certain it's because of the viewer (which is believable) and not another reason (like cache issues) then that's fine.
