I agree! Wasn't it such a wonderful time before the current way of things became the norm? In this case, I wish I was back in the good old day of the internet. The Millenials and zoomers were too young to be on it and we had a wonderful peaceful time of mixed opinions.

Up until about 20 years ago, the whole internet was free of it, except the newbie hackers and spammers. Once Millenials came of age and invaded, it devolved into a cesspool of emotionally disturbed, mis-educated spoiled brats that flooded message boards, new social techs, etc. with their idiocy and demands that everyone conform to their ways in which their number one most fave thing, cancel culture and have since deemed "opinions" as "hate" speech simply because they don't agree with it. Honestly, I have not seen ANY of the SL shit in OS. The only thing that is a constant in both is DRAMA.

Don't even get me started on Libtard Labs. 14 years and well known and builder there of many things, now you couldn't pay me to be there. 10's of thousands of us that are not indoctrinated woketards, have left or were banned. I was banned exactly one week after Joe Shittypants was installed. I was attacked in an empty sim by 20 woketards that I gave a mental beat down to. They were losing so bad at their inability to win their argument, they peed, crapped, particle blasted, nuked and pushed my avatar to no avail. (I wrote alot of anti griefing scripts for occasions like this). Since they couldn't win, they called a blue dot to have me banned from SL.

Suspended for 14 days for having a flag in my skybox 4k meters up on a mainland parcel I had for years. A Nazi Commie woketard bought the neighboring parcel, and reported it. It was there for TWO YEARS.

I complained that they allowed the Communist HQ and Antifa HQ, almost side by side in mainland next to a pro GOP parcel (That they banned), I was suspended for 7 days for pointing out they said no political content on mainland. Same however, the past 2 years they have been going a bit crazy with legal changes. I recommend searching for an alternate like I did Joe. You will be blindsided one day and it's one reason the IRS is now arming their agents with .40 cal sub machine guns and buying 5 million rounds of ammo past 2 years. Minimize what you have pass through your bank accounts or you will be put through audit hell and probably at gun point, in the not to far future at this rate.

As someone who has been programming since 1983, I can speak from experience on this issue. Yes many of us have designed, architected and implemented MANY things in use today, FOR FREE. One project for myself that became a success was a CMS I and 7 others developed for free use for the entire internet to be able to create and share information, etc. for FREE. What happened about 10 years into the project at version 8? The code was used for commercial purposes and became the biggest website after the owners allowed a 3rd person in to administer it, he locked the owners out and then demanded 3 billion USD for it's sale with HIS condition that HE remain in charge of it. It has since dwindled into now a place mostly seniors and housewives share pictures, and the owner has since tried to get involved in the 3d platform business unsuccessfully.

What did any of the original creators gain from their ideas and hours of writing the code and implementations? Nothing. No thanks, no acknowledgement and no appreciation. How does that pay the bills? Passion will not pay the bills. However there are way too many uneducated, impotent script-kiddies on the internet who are smart enough to con someone to pay for their work that they probably half ass built and will eventually fail through security flaws or lack of attention to detail, etc.

Of course trust is needed. Of course revenue is needed. Of course demand sparks ingenuity and invention. But the fine line of having it done by passion without payment for sustenance or having it done right with the right support is a fine line. Due dilligence, experience and wisdom matter. Choose wisely.

I agree that OS and unfortunately SL are 3d platforms but not just for Social. Back when I was in SL, I learned there were 3 types that joined:

1) Business, to earn revenue either primary or a supplement.
2) Social, bored and lonely house bound people looking for an outlet.
3) Egomaniacs, craving attention and people to worship them.

When SL first began, companies like Apple, Chrysler even the Borgata Hotel and Casino created sims for advertising purposes. They have all since left. I had my software development company and joined based on my secretary's recommendation for advertising. Eventually as the revenue and business ideas flopped in SL because of one consistent issue.....DRAMA, I resorted to using it to stay socially connected to friends made over the years. Now I never go back to SL, nor ever will. It's a garbage dump full of garbage people.

I build on necessity. As do most builders whether in OS or SL. The reason I stopped building in SL, they OWN every single thing you build there. As goes with uploads like images, textures, animations, etc. Once I learned about that in SL TOS, I never built anything again there and only build my stuff in OS.

I agree with alot of what you wrote. One thing I majorly agree with is how much OS needs to be focused upon and not with ANY connections, intentions or features associated with Looney Labs and SL. It is because of so much reliance on making things such as browsers and features dependent upon SL that it has caused major issues with various OS releases.

I for one use voice alot. I thought Vivox was sufficient. I have dabbled in other options being implemented. A solution CAN and WILL be found. By someone, in the near future. It HAS to be done and as you stated, the Firestorm viewer being the only browser supporting OS, it still mainly focuses itself as bending to the Looney Lab gods. Personally I am sick of the launch messages telling me those idiot Doctors without Borders needs us. No they don't and I am not going to SL to attend their retarded event. I know this is a small issue, but it proves a point, that they still stay focused on SL and OS as a second.
