I see it being it's own pretty specialized (how many people have the expertise to work on mesh bodies) thing -so there I definitely agree.
Honestly, one of the benefits I can see for ameteur builders getting together is working out an *informal* standard of what things ought to be, house sizes, door sizes, etc. Do we build for 1:1 scale, 1:5 scale or something different? Those kind of questions.
Ruth was created as a learning tool, as I remember. Any other use was secondary -and the main thing I believe that killed Ruth and Roth was the free, easy access to professional quality bodies and heads from SL. Particularly heads. There was some development hell that went on, particularly with later versions; but honestly I don't think that's what did them in. It was that they couldn't compete.
That's one reason I'm adament about *not* competing with the TGA (even if I had a group -or an idea for a group). They're working on a professional level, and we're clearly not. It's good to keep expectations in check. :)
