NEWS!!! The Clown About PBR in my outfits – please read 🙂
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a small note for those using my outfits in OpenSim. Some of my newer creations now include PBR materials (Physically Based Rendering), which means they use a more realistic way of handling how light interacts with textures — something that’s become the standard in Second Life and is now available in OpenSim too, with the right viewer.
If you're using the latest version of Firestorm, you'll be able to enjoy these advanced textures in full quality.
If your viewer is not updated, you might see the materials as plain white — this is normal for viewers that don’t yet support PBR.
But what is PBR really?
It’s not just adding a normal and specular map on top of a texture. True PBR materials are created externally (outside the viewer), using multiple specialized maps (like metallic, roughness, etc.) and then uploaded as complete material assets into OpenSim. This allows for a much more realistic and immersive visual experience.
Why am I doing this?
Because I believe OpenSim has a lot of potential to evolve visually, and I’d love to contribute to that by offering higher-quality content for those ready to explore it. Don’t worry though — I always include a regular (non-PBR) version of my outfits so that everyone can enjoy them, regardless of the viewer they use.
But if you’re curious and want to see what’s possible, I warmly invite you to try updating your viewer and check out the PBR versions. It’s a small step that can make a big difference in how you experience the world.
Thanks for reading, and as always, I appreciate your support and feedback!
